Hi all,

a couple weeks ago I started to feel something in my throat that felt like a lump. I had a lump in my thyroid about 9 years ago and all was clear and had a partial thyroidectomy. this lump feels different its not an outward lump but it just feels like something is stuck in the bottom of my throat. I went to the doctors and explained my symptoms, which are that my voice gets a bit croaky and I'm constantly having to clear my throat also if feels like my right ear (lump/swelling is on the right hand side) is getting blocked and I cant unblock it. my appointment is on Monday the 8th which is also my birthday. just hoping anyone can advise me on what I should expect from this fast tracked appointment. my aunty (dads first cousin) had thyroid cancer about 20 years ago also so this is playing on my mind.

thanks in advance....

    Hi Sabz77

Sorry to hear you are going to be spending your birthday at the hospital.  I can't say specifically what will happen at your appointment as my symptoms were completely different.  It's natural to feel anxious but do try to remember that patients are sent on these fast tracked appointments to help diagnose all sorts of problems.  The day I went for mine I did get bad news but other patients I was chatting to in the waiting room were told their symptoms were nothing to worry about.

If you have someone to take along with you it's good to have some company as there can be a lot of waiting around.

Best wishes for Monday and let us all know how you get on.
