I’m a mum who’s 30 year old son who works in Australia and lives on his own, (though his company are being great), has been diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer, he’s having 9 weeks chemo, 2 week break, 7 weeks chemoradiotherapy. Anyone had this cancer and treatment or going through it? I’m a bit raw, my sister had terminal lung cancer and lost her battle in September, so this has hit quite hard, (also my mum died of old age in August). Please I just need someone to tell me how it’s going to be, my son is being positive and I am too. His sister is going out to Oz for 3 weeks over Xmas
Hello Anniemum
I am so sorry about your son and feel for you. I have a children of similar age and having come through oral cancer successfully I can imagine what you are going through. There will be others who have chemo and similar treatments to your sons on this forum who I'm sure can tell you more specifically. I had 30 RT sessions in March/April of this year. It was hard and at the time I thought I would never be able to eat again but her I am 9 months later and I'm looking forward to my christmas turkey.
This forum is excellent with so much support to help your son and you get through this. I don't think I could have done it without all the wonderful people keeping me strong.
Follow others with similar diagnosis, you will get advice, tips ... its a space for you to ask questions or just have a rant when you feel like talking. Someone will always be there.
Big hug x

Hello deebo, thanks for posting on here , this is quite a rare cancer but very treatable as well as the lymph nodes , i have not had this cancer but have had three cycles of chemo which were done in the hospital . The chemo might make him tired and weak for for while but this is quite normal . All the best .
