Hi everyone, I’m a 60 yr old retired female.
I was diagnosed over 10 years ago with severe gastric reflux and take regular lanzoperazole. I have a persistent cough and find that I have difficulty swallowing solid food ie meat and vegetables, and sometimes I feel as though food is stuck in my chest, also nausea, sickness and discomfort/pain in my upper back.
I did have a sleeve gastrectomy for weight loss over 5 yrs ago and put these symptoms down to this but am now concerned that this could be symptoms of oesophageal cancer.
OI would be grateful for any advice or suggestions you may have and I apologise if I am wasting anyone’s time.
With thanks
Go to your doctor to get checked out. It sounds like you need an endoscopy to see what’s going on.
I totally agree with comments so far. Before my husband was diagnosed with OC I Googled his symptom, having problems swallowing certain food. OC or stomach ulcer were the 2 suggested causes. He never had acid reflux.
I hope your problem is not OC but always best to get checked.
Good luck x
Apologies for brief post earlier - finger trouble! Yes, you should be concerned obviously and take steps to identify the problem. If it turns out to be Oesophageal cancer it’s not the end of the world! Plenty of good advice and support here. Don’t panic, avoid Google like the plague, and see your doctor. Best wishes
David
As everyone else here has said please get it checked out it might be nothing to worry about but the sooner you get a referral for a endoscopy the better !
Tricia x
Googling my symptoms had the opposite effect! I had intermittent dysphagia and Googling that only suggests GORD or strictures of the oesophagus NOT cancer which is actually what it was!!
I guess this is another good reason to stay away from Google. Fake news ... It makes me wonder about the future, when it's proposed that AI will alleviate the pressure on medical practices
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
