My dad was diagnosed with stage III squamous cell oesophageal cancer in November and he was told his only option of a cure would be to have a PLO Pharyngolaryngoesophagectomy, to remove his voice box and all of his oesophagus.
I was wondering if anyone has had the PLO operation and would be able to share their experiences? The PLO does not appear to be a common surgery.
Hello RiriM
I am so sorry to read of your Dad's diagnosis, you have been very brave joining the forum, and I hope that soon you will receive responses from others who have experienced the same/similar diagnosis as Dad.
My Husband has Adenocarcinoma rather than squamous cell, so I am not able to answer your question on PLO, I do however wish your Dad every success with whatever treatment he chooses to go for.
Shortly others should be along to discuss their experiences with you.
There are other areas of the forum that you may also find useful, Family and Friends, Ask A Nurse, among others, which you may have already discovered, should you need any help navigating the site, please ask, I will be happy to help
Best of Luck
