First day of chemo.

Following on from my post introducing myself and my symptoms etc, I thought I would just post a quick update. Yesterday, I sat through 5 hours of various drips, and then came home with a 24 hour pump/drip.

I have been dreading side effects, but I can honestly say that I feel fine. The only slight thing that I have noticed is that I feel a bit shivery when I go away from my armchair. That apart, everything seems the same as it was before the treatment.

Early days I know, but I am encouraged.

  • Thats really good to hear. Hope it keeps going well.

  • That’s how I felt the day after my first chemo but don’t get too complacent. The side effects generally kick in about Day 3. Have the Imodium ready and don’t make any plans to do much for a few days afterwards…

  • Good to hear Geoff.
My first treatment of Nivolumab+Capox seems to have gone well too. Glad I invested in some warm gloves/socks and snood though.
returned home and ran tap to wash hands but forgot the tap and the cold water comes out of the mixer tap first - got the pins&needles in fingers and get it from metal door handles when room is cold even a remote control that was cold.
    Early days though …

  • Thanks for the update, I was wondering how you were getting on. I would echo Cool Blue's word of caution. My husband's experience was similar to his - fine for the first two days, but fatigue kicking in on day three and digestive troubles after that. You might want to get some laxatives in as well as Imodium as it can go either way - or both one after the other in hubby's case!

I sincerely hope you continue to feel OK, but do please take it easy and be aware that things might change. Good luck. x
