Hi everyone it's Annie. My husband had a total gastrectomy and osophajectony in May last year stage 3 diagnosed dec 2018. He was 48 yrs old on diagnosis. Both chemotherapy ecx before and after surgery. After a difficult surgery one which the surgeon told us another surgeon probably would have closed he was restaged to 4. Unfortunately and devastatingly he was having some pain at surgery site and up towards middle of his back between Jan and March. We thought it was adhesions. Then in April he struggled with swallowing. We made calls and he was scanned in 2 days. We found out the following week that it was back..at osophahus his aortic valve in his pancreas and diaphragm. No radiation too large an area no surgery. Straight to palliative care which at the moment is only docetaxel because the other components which make up flot he hasn't responded to last year. He's due his 3rd cycle next week but his swallowing issue still continues intermittently. His prognosis is 16 weeks without treatment and an extra 8 weeks if treatment works. He specifically does not wish to know his prognosis. I am beyond devastated. Are any of you able to give me any hope of another treatment at this stage. I'm terrified. Thanks

  • Dear Annie

I am not sure why I have only just come across your post, I regularly scan this site and have not seen this entry before. I am so very sorry that you have not received a response. I hope treatment has continued and is giving some relief.

Has the oncologist looked into immunotherapy?
