Hello Sarah (Sarah29)
I am Brian, one of the Community Champions here at Macmillan. I have just noticed your post has gone unanswered. I can't answer it myself as I have a different cancer, however by me replying it will be "bumped up" to the top of the page and I hope answered by other members of the Oesophageal Cancer group.
I would suggest however, that if you are still suffering from the nausea and vomiting at this stage a call to your GP would be in order.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hello Sarah (Sarah29)
I am so sorry to hear that. I do hope the hospital nurse can sort you out. I am always aware at the back of my mind being on a cancer journey the chances of a hospital admission are higher.
Please do keep posting and I will look out to see how you get on.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi sarah, ive just joined. My partner had his ivor lewis in February. Every morning he wakes up with the clear stuff that he retches up. His nausea hasn't been a problem until he gets dumping syndrome then it's not great. Apparently the clear stuff is one of three things
Either laying down to flat, as your head should be higher than your abdomen to stop the stomach acid back flowing into the lungs irritating them
Or
The incision it's self is irritated by either foods or hot drinks. They will give him an endoscopy if you tell them, and they might stretch his join.
Or
Indigestion.
Oh dear Sarah just caught up on this tread please let us know what’s happening have you been admitted ! After 72 days you would hope you were over the worst !! Tricia x
Hi. I'm nearly 18 months post Ivor Lewis now, and still get nausea. I've never actually been sick, but have medication to help prevent both reflux and nausea. I take 40mg Omeprazole morning and night to combat reflux, which works a treat, and Domperidone on an 'as and when needed' basis to combat nausea.
I get nausea some mornings, and rarely eat before 11am, but graze slowly on allsorts throughout the rest of the day, but sometimes need an anti-sickness tablet later in the day (just taken one as I type). My team have reassured me it's all totally normal and will get better over time. It has done, I used to feel nauseous and lot more, it's definitely not a daily thing now.
It's still early days for you, so hang in there and do speak to your team about your concerns. They will most likely be able to reassure you and give you something to help. The Domperidone anti-sickness is excellent, it works very quickly for me, and I only take the one (you can take them every 4 hours if needed).
Good luck, and well done coming this far
Hi
thank you so much for the reply - I’ve been back to the hospital and been given different anti sickness tabs which seem to be helping. They think that the removal of the feeding tube has caused some irritation to my stomach as my white blood cells were through the roof.
I’ve had a couple of much better days and most definitely the sun has helped my mood.
all set now for round 2 post op flot on Tuesday

Hi, thanks so much tor the reply. I spent the day at cdtu and they have thankfully changed my anti sickness drugs and the last couple of days have been so much better. They think the removal of my feeding tube may have irritated my stomach and then having chemo on the Tuesday made the sickness and nausea worse.
chemo again on Tuesday so let’s so how that one goes

Hi
I spent the day in Cdtu on Monday, they’ve changed my anti sickness drugs and things have been a little better since then but not perfect. They think the removal of the feeding tube irritated my stomach and then having chemo tipped me over the edge.
start again for round 2 Tuesday-Let’s see how that goes
