Hello

I have my last FLOT tomorrow, 4 in all, I have also have 2 rounds of Carbo and Etoposide. I have my CT scan on the 1st Feb as they plan is to operate so I have fingers and toes crossed they I will still be on this pathway.

The Flot has been tough as people say, the Oxy-legs were terrible!! the two week turn around has given me about 3 days of normality. I would like to thank those that offered side effect advice as it really helped me to be proactive with the Meds.

The change for me is  from Oct to early December I was not able to eat food, shakes only. I am now eating normally, I have attempted spicy food, like a curry Heart eyes. I find I need to eat more often or I get like an empty discomfort, not sure what that's about?  My sternum feels sore sometimes also? fingers crossed these are gastral related to the growth but I guess it must of shrunk as I can eat.Grinning

I am so looking forward to some weeks without Chemo but also apprehensive, it will be back to that waiting place, and this is it, which pathway? I wish I had not been told IT was high grade, this bit really sticks in my head!!Fingers crossed

What lovely blue skies I have in the south at the moment, beautiful Sunny

  • Happy birthday Dean hoping you get to celebrate great news soon x

  • Hi Alasdair,

Just checked my dates and I was 11 weeks post surgery when I had my JEJ tube removed. Was actually on the same day as I got my PICC line in for post-op chemo. I’m doing okay. Managing to put a bit of weight on so I’m only about 1st down from my pre-diagnosis weight. Starting to think that this might be my new fighting weight though. I have days when I feel good and probably overdo it a bit exercise wise and then need a couple of lazier days to recover but I’m quite enjoying getting back into enjoying a good book again and a G&T or glass of wine before dinner. I also still tend to have to go for a lie down after meals but this week my wife and I also had our first meal out in a restaurant since before my surgery. It was a lunch and I was able to order from the “lite bites” menu which worked perfectly. We even shared a sticky toffee pudding dessert afterwards. So life is certainly starting to get a little more back to normal although I know I still have several  months of recovery still to go. Hope you get your JEJ out soon. It felt soooo good to be rid of it. Best of luck. CB

  • Hi Dean and many happy returns for your birthday. Hope you’ve managed to do something nice. My wife had something special (big secret) planned for my  60th in May but she’s managed to rearrange it for May 2025 so that’ll be something else to look forward to…

  • Hi Vonn and Andy

Thank you so much for the birthday wishes.

Unfortunately scan results back and show an area near site of surgery they want to check but it's likely it's going to be more chemo but won't know until I see oncologist on Tuesday. Bit of a set back but will keep on fighting whatever it says

Hope Andy is doing ok today

    Best wishes

  • Hi

Bless you, I really appreciate that.

We are all in this together and I don't know if it is bad news yet. Whatever it is I will fight it with everything I,ve got.

    Best wishes

    Dean

  • Hi Dean,

I’m sure that’s worrying news and certainly not what you wanted to hear on your birthday. I’m not on any trial so I don’t get any follow up scans so I’ve no way of knowing what’s going on inside me unless new symptoms present themselves. That’s kinda worrying too. CB

  • Hi CB

No not the best news but hey it is what it is. See oncologist next week to discuss results. It may turn out to be ok but if I need more chemo so be it. I think we all know it's a tough fight and it can always come back or linger at any time.

I will keep fighting for sure

    Best wishes
