Hello

I have my last FLOT tomorrow, 4 in all, I have also have 2 rounds of Carbo and Etoposide. I have my CT scan on the 1st Feb as they plan is to operate so I have fingers and toes crossed they I will still be on this pathway.

The Flot has been tough as people say, the Oxy-legs were terrible!! the two week turn around has given me about 3 days of normality. I would like to thank those that offered side effect advice as it really helped me to be proactive with the Meds.

The change for me is  from Oct to early December I was not able to eat food, shakes only. I am now eating normally, I have attempted spicy food, like a curry Heart eyes. I find I need to eat more often or I get like an empty discomfort, not sure what that's about?  My sternum feels sore sometimes also? fingers crossed these are gastral related to the growth but I guess it must of shrunk as I can eat.Grinning

I am so looking forward to some weeks without Chemo but also apprehensive, it will be back to that waiting place, and this is it, which pathway? I wish I had not been told IT was high grade, this bit really sticks in my head!!Fingers crossed

What lovely blue skies I have in the south at the moment, beautiful Sunny

  • Hi CB

    Yes it certainly was

I guess it happens sometimes but yes it was a worrying day for sure. My cancer nurse was very apologetic though and he has been fantastic throughout my whole treatment.

Appointment with oncologist now next week.

Hope you are still doing ok

    Best wishes

  • Hi Vonn and Andy

Yes it did panic me a bit but my cancer nurse was very apologetic and he has been so good throughout my treatment, these things do happen sometimes

Glad Andy is doing better,I hope the next round goes ok

    Best wishes

  • Hi Vonn and Andy

How did Andy get on with his Chemotherapy yesterday I was thinking about him as I know how I felt this time after the last episode.

The side effects seem to start a lot quicker as I was suffering yesterday with diarrhoea and nausea but up to now today I’m feeling a lot better I even managed a light breakfast in the garden before the sun gets too strong

I hope Andy doesn’t suffer too much, thinking of you both

    Best Wishes

  • Hi Dean

I know how frustrating it is waiting for results but I think it’s unforgivable to give you results from 12 months ago I do wonder sometimes what is happening to the proffessionalism of the NHS

On Monday while I was having chemotherapy I watched the nurse mixing the oxiplatin in saline solution and started to panic as it should be in glucose I wonder what would have happened if I hadn’t have said something and all I got was “oops people make mistakes”

I’m sure your results will be here soon and I’m thinking of you my friend

    Best wishes

  • Hi Alasdair

Yes it was quite a bad mistake but at least he realised quickly and put my mind at rest. They are under tremendous pressure but you are right it shouldn't happen.

Good job you realised what the nurse was doing with your treatment as well that could of been a problem for you and you don't need any more complications!

Stay well my friend, will let you know results when I get them

    Best wishes

  • Morning Dean

I hope you get your results very soon xx

Andy had round 2 on Tuesday it totally drained him but yesterday was a good day he even .managed to spend a little time tidying the garden which was good to see. He's managing to do things for half an hour or so then has to rest but at  this stage I think hes doing really well.

Hoping today is kind to him too.

I'm a little lost with time but I think it's today you see the oncologist if that's correct I wish you lots of positive.

    Take care

    Best wishes

    Vonn + Andy

    Xx

  • Morning Alistair

Pleaded to hear you had a better day hopefully these days will continue xx

Andy had his chemo on Tuesday but felt totally drained with tummy cramps (thank goodness for buscapan) spent the rest of the day in bed.

Yesterday he was up and looking well doing jobs in the garden whilst he's feeling ok. Thank goodness he gets some respite from feeling so tired.

Hopefully today will be a beautiful day that brings strength and happiness to everyone.

    Take care Alistair

    Best wishes

  • Hi Vonn and Andy

That's great to hear Andy can manage to do a few things , just be careful he doesn't over do it. If he is only doing about 30 mins at a time that is good that's what I did when I could.

Appointment now next week as scan results still not back.

They did scare me though as initially said some lymph nodes had shown up on scan. They had made a mistake and had looked at last year's scan!

My cancer nurse was very apologetic and he has been so good throughout, they are all under tremendous pressure but it still shouldn't happen.

As soon as the results from the scan I had 3 weeks ago are in will be going to see oncologist

    Best wishes to you both

  • Good evening Vonn and Andy

I hope Andy continues to be ok with the chemotherapy treatment and having better days than I’ve had today

I got up this morning feeling lethargic and generally not myself but put a brave face on and tried to continue it was when I looked down at my JEJ Tube hanging out of my stomach with all I could call puss oozing out I realised I’d got a problem rang the doctors got an emergency appointment now on antibiotics then the CNS rang to see what the problem was so after explaining to her she suggested a visit to Royal Stoke Hospital to the surgical assessment unit just to make sure everything is where it should be ( it is) The puss isn’t puss it’s just some sort of discharge one gets after having an open wound for two and a half months with a plastic pipe coming out of it . So after spending 8 hours in hospital and having my JEJ tube re fastened we managed to get home at about nine o clock this evening

I must say I’ve had better days

    Best wishes to you both

  • Hi Alasdair

Just wanted to ask is it usual to have the feeding tube in for such a long time?
