Hello
I have my last FLOT tomorrow, 4 in all, I have also have 2 rounds of Carbo and Etoposide. I have my CT scan on the 1st Feb as they plan is to operate so I have fingers and toes crossed they I will still be on this pathway.
The Flot has been tough as people say, the Oxy-legs were terrible!! the two week turn around has given me about 3 days of normality. I would like to thank those that offered side effect advice as it really helped me to be proactive with the Meds.
The change for me is from Oct to early December I was not able to eat food, shakes only. I am now eating normally, I have attempted spicy food, like a curry . I find I need to eat more often or I get like an empty discomfort, not sure what that's about? My sternum feels sore sometimes also? fingers crossed these are gastral related to the growth but I guess it must of shrunk as I can eat.
I am so looking forward to some weeks without Chemo but also apprehensive, it will be back to that waiting place, and this is it, which pathway? I wish I had not been told IT was high grade, this bit really sticks in my head!!
What lovely blue skies I have in the south at the moment, beautiful
Hi Jennie
Sorry to hear Paul is struggling. Hope you don't mind me saying this but if it's possible maybe he can take a break from work. This horrible disease really takes it out on the body and mind and although work may be a distraction it's probably putting too much strain on him.
I'm self employed and haven't worked since June last year as it's a physical job and I'm just not able to.
To help with the finances the cancer nurse told me to apply for PIPs from the government. I did and got it which is piece of mind as it helps pay some bills and my van which is leased.
Maybe discuss it with him as it's not means tested and I think you will have a good case
If he wants to come on here I will do my best to reassure him
Best wishes
Dean
Hi Cool Blue
Just wishing you all the best for your op, I hope it all goes well. You got this ok. I will be on here as and when you feel like chatting.
My PICC line goes back in today with first post op chemo next week, here we go again! It will be at 70% strength so I'm hoping I will cope with it ok.
Stay in touch ok
Best wishes
Dean
Thanks Dean,
It’s all very real and imminent now but I’ll be glad to get in and get it over and done with. As my consultant explained at my first meeting with him, I don’t have a ‘Plan B’ anyway so this is it. Will let you know how I get on. Good luck for your next four rounds of FLOT. At least you’ll be through it all by the start of summer. That’ll be nice
Thank you so much, yes all the rounds should be done by end of April then a scan around May to see if it's gone.
I know you are probably nervous right now but as soon as you get into hospital you will be fine. Before you know it you will be out the other side and the recovery will begin.
Good luck and yes please let me know how It goes as and when you can, get your strength back first
Best wishes

Hi Dean,
Operation went ahead as planned on Thursday. Bit of a struggle getting the epidural in (took about 6 attempts and 90mins to achieve) but I’m glad to have it now to manage my pain. Was up walking on Friday and every day since. Think they’ll keep me on ICU for another couple of days before I’m moved to main ward. Staff have all been wonderful. Feel very well cared for
Hi Cool Blue
Glad the op was ok and yes epidural can take a while I was lucky mine went straight in.
That's brilliant to be up walking every day good for you. The staff are all amazing aren't they.
You will feel a bit stronger each day, good luck with your recovery and keep in touch ok
Best wishes
