Hello
I have my last FLOT tomorrow, 4 in all, I have also have 2 rounds of Carbo and Etoposide. I have my CT scan on the 1st Feb as they plan is to operate so I have fingers and toes crossed they I will still be on this pathway.
The Flot has been tough as people say, the Oxy-legs were terrible!! the two week turn around has given me about 3 days of normality. I would like to thank those that offered side effect advice as it really helped me to be proactive with the Meds.
The change for me is from Oct to early December I was not able to eat food, shakes only. I am now eating normally, I have attempted spicy food, like a curry . I find I need to eat more often or I get like an empty discomfort, not sure what that's about? My sternum feels sore sometimes also? fingers crossed these are gastral related to the growth but I guess it must of shrunk as I can eat.
I am so looking forward to some weeks without Chemo but also apprehensive, it will be back to that waiting place, and this is it, which pathway? I wish I had not been told IT was high grade, this bit really sticks in my head!!
What lovely blue skies I have in the south at the moment, beautiful
Hi Geo
How are you doing. I know you have finished all your treatment just wondered if the eating etc. has got better.
Just about to start my post op chemo this Thursday. My op went well and they got all the cancer out and histology report was also good with no residual cancer
Got 4 rounds of FLOT that the surgeon called mopping up any lingering cancer cells
I had a total gastrectomy so eating is a bit up and down for me too and have lost three and a half stone but hoping that will get better soon
Best wishes
Dean
Hi Dean,
Thanks for your response. I'm glad your op went well. Take some getting over doesn't it? Wasn't too bad though considering what they do.
I lost most of my weight after surgery, due I think to my lack of taste and appetite plus no stomach to talk of.
Good luck with the last chemo. I had one dose at 100%, one at 85% and a third at 85%. I didn't take the last dose as the first three made me quite unwell. The oncologist agreed with my decision. I got the same explanation about mopping up microscopic cancer cells.
As for myself, I'm doing quite well. Still trying to get used to a new way of eating, little and often. Weight seems to have evened out at around 100kgs from 137Kgs which is no bad thing. I definitely had it to lose...lol.
Good luck with the next challenge, it's a tough old journey.
Best regards
Geo.
Hi Geo
That is a lot of weight loss which like you say is good in the long run. I have lost 25 kg so I'm now down to 91 kg
Like you it's a lot to do with not being able to eat much after the op . Considering it was an 8 hrs op and had a total gastrectomy I think I'm doing ok
It has been a very long and at times very difficult journey but you just have to try and push on.
My post op chemo Is at 70% strength so will see how it goes on whether I complete all four.
Keep in touch and will let you know how I get on
Best wishes

Hi Cool Blue
Just seen your post, sorry to hear you are having complications. I'm sure they will get on top of it for you.
My chemo was postponed this week due to pump at reduced rate was not available so it should start next week
Hope you get better soon
Best wishes

Hi Jennie
Hope you are doing ok, can't view your latest post for some reason. Poor Cool Blue has had some complications but think he is on the mend now.
Let me know how you are getting on if you can please.
My post op chemo has been postponed till next week as they can't get the pump at the reduced strength at the moment. Also my iron is low so may need an infusion. Apart from that I'm doing ok.
Best wishes

Hi Cool Blue
Just checking in to see how you are doing. Hope you are back on the ward now and out of ITU.
Had my line care and bloods taken yesterday and hopefully chemo will start next week as they are ordering in a pump at reduced rate.
At least I can enjoy the weekend.
Let me know how you are
Best wishes
Dean
Good morning Cool Blue,
I hope this post finds you on the mend and not so much pain, sounds like you have had a tough time, your younger years and pre fitness will pull you through. ICU is the best place, they certainly can get you ready with the next steps. Everyone’s journey is different as are the hospitals.
Think about those lovely beach walks you will be convalescing there before you know it.
Take care, healing vibes
Jennie
