Hi everyone
My dad had a craniotomy in January. He was due to start radiotherapy/chemo last week but he developed an infection around his op site. They’ve operated today and removed a piece of his skull, and now I’m wondering what this might mean for his treatment. Will he be allowed radiotherapy? I can’t really find anything online.
I know we aren’t Drs and I’m not asking for medical advice but has anyone experienced anything like this??
Thank you
Hi there,
Sorry to hear about your Dad picking up an infection. You're right we're not Drs but everything else being equal I can't see why this would necessarily prevent radiotherapy unless he becomes unwell due to the infection.
The fact that you can't find anything online would suggest it's at least not a common reason to not start radiotherapy. Might be worth a call to the Clinical Nurse Specialist to see if they can advise.
Hope the op was successful and he stays clear of infection.
Chris
