Hi
Have been diagnosed and starting treatment after Boxing Day they are using R-CHOP treatment my cancer is in my stomach and spread to the chest they tell me that is quite common with this form of F Lymphoma
They tell me my first chemo session will last between 6 and 7 hrs and I will be stopping in hospital for at least overnight then I will have Chemo as an outpatient in three 3 week cycles
Just wondered if anyone can give me an idea of what to expect I know the hair loss etc just wondered how I will be feeling in the days after treatment
Any useful information for me and my wife we would be grateful
Thanks buddy was you unwell before treatment as in any pain or discomfort/I have no symptoms apart from a few lumps
Hey Clecker,
it was odd as I was probably in the best shape I have ever been in when I got diagnosed. I’d just competed in a triathlon and done several years of hard running and cycling events and then got diagnosed kind of out the blue.
i was able to go on watch and wait for 6 months with no issues at all and even when I started treatment last September I was still running and cycling and going out etc.
only real symptoms looking back was a bit of abdominal pain which I put down to over indulgence on the booze at the weekend and probably a few more night sweats than I have now.
the only lump that o could feel was under my armpit and that was only the size of a malteser so didn’t cause any issues at all. The bigger ones were integral though and I think when the scans between the April and the September showed them getting bigger that’s when they decided it was time to start treatment.
how about you? Are you feeling pretty well going into this? I think it helped me feeling so well and being so fit though so I’m keeping all the exercise up now post chemo.
regards
In myself I feel fine I'm 58 and have a history of bone weakness so can't get about as much as I like but I'm feeling good so hopefully things will go well thanks for information speak soon cheers
Here is a before and after shot to show just how good this treatment was for me (before on the bottom obviously)
Hey Cleker maybe best start a new thread with your treatment regimen, save it getting lost in this thread ans I'm sure you'll get more advice from others on similar treatment to yours
Good luck I'm sure you'll be OK side effects are not nice but needs must, my side effects were different from cycle to cycle but nothing to be concerned about as I was told throughly what could be expected, sore mouth and ulcers in it happened only after my first cycle and I considered that the worse of the lot, although as your treatment is different from mine who knows the side effects in fact any treatment gives different side effects to different people even on the same regimen
That's impressive!
I'm waiting for my halfway scan now. If it were half as good, I'd be thrilled.
C
Amazing scan results hopefully mine will turn out like that thanks for chat I be in touch
Well a week post cycle 6 and no real fatigue which is good as it's getting stuck into the garden time, pond cleaning, filters to check and clean, Koi to check over after the winter, and keep things coming on on the greenhouse ready to move outside in a week or so,must say this sunshine is really welcome
My side effects have not been too bad this far, steroids, and injections finished just the gout tablets and stomach protection, had a little pain in my stomach but the swallon spleen at my side has reduced
Keeping up my 3 plus mile walks with the doggie so it can't be bad. Looking forward to our few days away on the north Norfolk coast from Wednesday, lovely and remote ideal to watch the world go by and take stock
Hope your all feeling as I do this Easter holiday and as always good luck my friends on your journeys and out the other side consider myself fortunate as some on here have it far worse, Mike (Highlander) is a true inspiration to me although I only know him on here consider him a true friend as I do all the others who have followed my journey Nicky, Paul, Peter, Cecren etc
Enjoy your away days I will be starting my treatment the same day
