So it is now 5 years since I had breast cancer surgery. I was immediately prescribed Letrazole and Adcal for at least 5 years. I have spoken to my breast care team and the GP and been told the prescription was for 5 years so presumably OK to come off it. I have questions like do I stop the medication? If I do, do I wean off or just stop? Will there be any side effects and will this increase the risk of hormone led breast cancer? Can any of my friends on here help with their experiences?
After 13 years on Letrozole I want to stay on it but as my GP, as a primary care provider can no longer prescribe it I’m going to eke out what I have left, which is a little like weaning.
I have had aches in knees and hips, could be down to meds, but could be age related too, I'm 69.
I have decided to come off for a month and see if aches lessen while I try to seek advice from an oncologist.
Good luck to you for the future x
There is a test called breast cancer index which can determine if you would benefit from staying on the drug for 5 more years. Can talk to your doctor about it. Can look it up on Google. Common test done in US.
