Hi, my mum is 63 & has IDC grade 2 with high grade DCIS- hormone positive. they removed the 3cm tumour with clear margins. 1/1 node positive for micromets

we get the Oncotype results next week (it’s been 5 weeks!) has anyone with this type of cancer had a score under 25 and not needed chemo?

I know everyone is different but would be interesting to hear peoples results.

thankyou Blush

  • Hi, I had a score of 5 back in the summer (i was 64) and didnt need chemo x

  • Hello, sorry to hear about your mum’s diagnosis. I had IDC grade 2, ER / PR + and HER2 negative, and a score of 19 in my largest tumour and didn’t need chemo. I had 1 lymph node positive for cancer in both axillary and inter mammary chain.

  • Hello! I had IDC hormone pos, her 2 negative, grade 2. I had Double masectomy as cancer found in both breasts and had 1 node positive on one side. I then had a full auxiliary node clearance and luckily all 16 nodes were negative. I then had oncotype test and had a score of 0 for left tumour and 6 for right so oncology team did not recommend chemo. I am now on letrozole for 5 years and managing ok apart from flushes and some aches. I am 55 years old.

there is light at the end of the tunnel..waiting for oncotype test results was hard but I wish your mum all the very best.

  • Thank-you! It’s the worst part waiting & worrying.

Confused as the original biopsy was grade 3, but after surgery it was grade 2.

its been 5 weeks waiting since pathology results, jst want to get on with the treatment now. Hopefully after the oncotype results, treatment can start.

  • Hopefully the recurrence risk is low and your mum may be able to avoid chemo? I think a score of less than 25 in post menopausal women can often indicate that risk of chemo doesn’t warrant that treatment. Wishing you well
