Receiving chemotherapy for oestrogen and progesterone positive grade 3 cancer

Hi I am beside myself with worry, having completed the EC part of ECT chemo I discovered a little nodule on the affected  breast and a biopsy found it had cancer, the consultant said this is very uncommon and it shows the chemo has not killed it. I am due to start paclitaxel chemo this week but I’m so worried. Has anyone had this happen, has anyone had paclitaxel and hormone therapy at same time. I have a call with my oncologist today and want to ask about this but not sure if risks are too high. Any advice welcome.

  • Hi there, I have the same situation like you. I finished my breast cancer surgery with reconstruction on Feb. However, there a little nodule found on the surgery breast on early April. I started my chemo treatment on mid April for EC part, breast surgeon took biopsy and with cancerous cells found. I’m shocked with cancer come back with such short period of time.

What they suggested is immediately arrange for CT scan to check if there any cancerous hidden on the body. Have you come up with any suggestion from Oncologist?

  • Hi there, oncologist has said that I need to continue with the paclitaxel treatment and I will have further surgery on the reconstructed breast after chemo. I had a scan to see if it had spread but no spread. It’s so disheartening but part of me thinks the nodule was a sign of cancer that was perhaps already there. I hope you get on ok.

  • Hi Evonne,

Most Importantly which is no spread and just focusing on surgery to remove remaining cancer.

I hope you keep on doing well for rest of treatments.

    All the best,

    Roni
