Hi,

I just wondered if anybody has been offered Olaparib as part of their treatment plan?

It's a new drug to the market which is receptive to Her2 negative cancer, and being given to anybody with a BRCA gene mutation (as far as I've read).

I'm stage 4 TNBC and currently in cycle 3/8 of chemo, then will have radiotherapy, followed by Olaparib for long term control.

If you have been offered it and are currently using it, or even haven't started using it yet, I'd be very interested to keep in touch to find out how things are progressing.

Thanks for reading.

  • Hi Natasha,

I started on Olaparib 3 weeks ago - I was stage 2a, triple negative with BRCA1 mutation. I had lumpectomy and sentinel node removal, followed by chemo (4xEC + 12x Taxol), then lymph node clearance and 27 radiotherapy sessions which finished at the end of March 2022. Just after I finished my radiotherapy, I got my gene testing results which showed that I had a BRCA1 mutation and my oncologist prescribed me to start Olaparib as a preventative measure.

For me, the first few days on Olaparib were pretty rough (I wasn't expecting any side effects so it was quite a shock!), I felt like I'd been hit by a bus with flu-like symptoms and exhaustion, but the side effects quickly subsided and now I don't notice any effects. I take 4 x 150mg tablets a day.

If I can help in any way, don't hesitate to ask :)

I hope that all is going well with your chemo so far x
