Here's a new thread for discussions around chemotherapy, as the existing threads were getting a little long.
Please do let us know if you have any other threads you think would be useful to link here.
I was told op to radiotherapy would be 6-8 weeks so I’m guessing the same for op to chemo?
Take it steady. If your getting dizzy check with your BC nurse if this is normal.
Lots of hugs xxx
Thanks for your advice, wasn’t aware of the impact on liver function x
Thanks Kas for your response.
It sounds petrifying about your chest pains..have you sort this out with experts?
Like you I was also worried about how my partner won't be attracted to me anymore. More recently I have found he secretly googled mastectomy so he is prepared for how I will look. I told him my worries and he said he doesn't care how I looked it's what on the inside that counts. We haven't got much choice. I also worry about intimacy as I will be so tired!
Today i am achy with flu symptoms from covid booster jab. So not pleasant!
I hope you're all having a good day... xx
Seeding positive vibes xx
It’s part of the trauma so they aren’t worried. My heart and lungs are healthy so that’s all go.
I’ve got to talk to my partner to tell him what they are going to do. We don’t live together so as I’m now isolating before the op and can’t drive for three weeks after I need him to come over otherwise it will be over the phone! Just scared to tell him.
I see my nurse tomorrow so I need to ask about the booster. Hope you feel better from it soon.
xx
Hi Kas
Being open and frank may just be what is needed. I am sure things will work out.
Have you got your op stuff sorted? Or know what to expect on the day?
For me I am one of those who need to be prepared. Is it a day operation?
Cx
I have my appointment with my nurse tomorrow to discuss the op and what to expect. I’m just so anxious. More than I was with chemo.
xx
Please don't worry. Its easier than you think....we will be here to give you comfort and encouragement if needed ok. Let us know how you get on after your call.
You got this!

Hope your appointment goes ok with your nurse. Your surgery will be a doddle compared to chemo.

I had my first (of 9) paclitaxel yesterday, it was also my first Herceptin. It was a very positive treatment, doesn't it make a difference when the nurse is happy, kind and explains everything- she was so lovely. She put the cannula in and I didn't feel a thing - total pro!
No reactions to the drugs at all. My appointment was for 2 hours but because they were running late and having to wait to see if I had a reaction to the Herceptin I was actually there for 4 hours.
Came home took all the required tablets. Didn't get that woozy, drunk feeling I normally get with EC. Not slept great, but what's new
Will just wait and see what the next few days bring. I had constipation with EC but have read you get diarrhoea with paclitaxel- is that usually immediate or will it start within a couple,of days?
Lazy day at how today as the forecast is for rain all day.
Hi Jacala, hope you continue to feel ok. My side effects usually kicked in once the steroids had worn off, so around day 4. The diarrhoea was often random, I tried to track it, but no real pattern, but I did suffer quite a bit. Good luck xx
