Hello

I've just been diagnosed with invasive ductal cancer grade 3 triple negative I'm so scared is anyone going through the same?

  • Harleybear - you have some really good replies. See Rozalia's for instance. My main problem, apart from the haematoma which was noticed very late and not viewed as anything odd by the Nurses examining me even though I was fainting quite a lot was convincing the health authority to give me physiotherapy. The nurses I saw did not think the fact that I was in pain daily was a problem, as was not a clinical problem they said, even though it was taking me an absolute age to put my clothes on because of lack of proper arm movement on one side. I had 2 urgent referals sent out, as was in a lot of pain trying to do the pose expected by the Radiotherapists. One of the Radiotherapists, a man, said I needed physio, even though I had done all the exercises suggested. I would suggest, as I had to do, that you put a bomb under the Health Authority by complaining hard. Reconstruction can be done later on, especially if a lack of symmetry is causing you distress. I would have had a lack of symmetry and this was spoken about as early as when I had the MRI investigations.  PALS is useful. Hospitals never like an M.P. getting involved either. All I needed was one session with a Physio - he solved the problem by manipulating something and giving me more difficult exercises. How difficult was that for NHS to achieve but they just sat on the referrals doing nothing and said women didn't want to see a male physio. I was in such pain I did not care what sex a person was and would have seen anyone at any time of day or night. I believe you can choose to go to any hospital of your choice.

  • Thank you for your reply . It was very helpful .  I am sorry you too had this battle   When I have the strength will look into this more . Xx

  • Hi Harleybear, my plastic consultant has been abit flexible with myself My BMI is not that much over but my surgery will now been I am on a list so advised me to lose afew lbs but she said I am flexible with that I understand you have just finished treatment. I have my CT next week on my abdomen area to check my tummy muscles. Get some strength at the moment harleybear, radiotherapy certainly leaves you fatigued xxx

  • Harleybear, if you really are serious about having an implant, have a check through the NICE Guidelines. You might have to lose some weight to get what you want and change hospitals. To me, there seems no real reason why you should not have had the offer of reconstruction later on, but of course I don't know your medical details and there could be a medical reason why you couldn't have reconstruction. One reason to be offered the options is that people can suffer emotionally if they are very unhappy with the physical outcome they end up with after the diseased tissue has been removed.
