Hello
I've just been diagnosed with invasive ductal cancer grade 3 triple negative I'm so scared is anyone going through the same?
I have bloods done before chemo and they give you results at the second session . I have no upfront meds but they run through a bag of anti sickness and a bag of steroids first . My chemo is syringed slowly directly into my Picc line . I think that depends on the drug they are giving to start with . At your first session it takes longer as they explain it all in full detail with time for you to ask questions .
I personally have had no taste changes but my appetite is lower . You will probably be given a bag of meds to take home which may include an injection to do every say for 7 days .
ask away we are all in this together . Good to get different views from around health trusts xxx
Hi Key , it’s good that your last EC is 30th Dec. That may mean that you have a fair shot of feeling ok for Xmas which I am pleased for you about as I Am sure your children will be . Hang on to that thought during your next cycle xxx
Yes I was happy I may feel.ok for Xmas, dreading the weekly ones for 12 weeks after though x
Hi everyone yh I have bloods 2 days before chemo. Then I am given results on the day and chemo given and my meds prescribed after, anti sickness, steroids, I take a strong anti sickness tablet one hr before treatment. I have my appts all in my card, but there is never a problem. A d/n flushes my picc line, she comes in once a week and does dressing as well. I have a covid swab done at same time as my bloods and see my oncologist, to assess how I am doing and any questions I have. I have received an appt for my echo because I will be starting herceptin with taxol after my next ec. They are really good and helpful xxx
I am thinking of taking my partner away for a few days next week as a surprise for his birthday. Do you think I should just go , it is the week preceding my next cycle so should be at my best . Xxx
Hi ratty ! No news yet . But I’m ok with that right now . You lot will be the first people I tell xxx
I too am having weekly ones , I think due to start 21st December so not great timing. Is it docetaxol you having ? Have heard horrible stories about side effects xxx
Hi Shaz, that was exactly the regime I had when I had mine.....all the bar the covid swab....(no covid then)......yes they keep a check on your heart when you have herceptin as it can mess with it a bit........I think it builds up a bit too ....towards the end of my herceptin course my heart function was down a bit although I hadn't noticed anything untoward, so I didn't have the herceptin that time. I had another echo just before the next one was due (3 weeks) and the heart had settled so had the next shot as normal. they are very good and will keep a close eye on everything. The heart recovers very well as soon as the herceptin is stopped....See how you go, but it's nothing to worry about.....xxxx
Plus there are no long term effects from it when you have finished all your treatment....,,,Your heart is probably a lot younger than mine too.....
No I'm having paclitaxel along with something else can't remember the name x
