Here's a new thread for discussions around chemotherapy, as the existing threads were getting a little long.

Hi I'm a teacher too. I'm sat at home waiting for my chemo to start (see my oncologist on Wednesday) I think it will start pretty soon after then.
I was advised to stay off work so didn't go back to school at the start of term. It's a good job as we have had one class having to go home with 10+ positive COVID cases and now even more over the weekend.
Its been dull but I've tried to keep busy.
I got an NHS voucher that I've used towards a wig. It's only cost £70 and is really good quality.

Hello
If you scroll back to page 7 there’s a few, quite detailed posts on advice which might be useful to read.
I had the same regime of drugs you’re about to have and am now 17 weeks post chemo. Take it a day at a time and listen to what your body needs. Enjoy the good days and know the less pleasant ones will pass, tick them off as you go and celebrate each cycle completed by treating yourself to something you like. Good luck!

Thank you for all your useful advice. I had my PICC line fitted today and start chemo on Thursday. I knew it would be starting but now it really is. As each of us is different it is difficult to know which of the side effect I will experience. It has been very useful to read the posts like yours that are full of useful tips. Thank you.
Mine was painless, I hope yours was too. All the best for tomorrow. Don't forget to tick off each session. I have put a notice on my fridge and will tick them off. Hope the wig appointment was a success. I have been offered the cold cap. My hairdresser was not enthusiastic and said that his experience has been that it may help but that often the hair left is patchy and thin. It adds quite a long time to the session. I can tell them on Thursday. Are you having a cold cap? My hairdresser says that I can bring my wig in one evening and he will style it to look like my own usual style. Everyone has been so kind to me. Good luck and I hope that everything works out how you want it to be.
