Hi ive just been approved for Kadcyla once I finish radiotherapy. Wondering if anyone else has had this for early stage BC? I think I’m getting it because I had some positive lymph nodes and it’s meant to improve my chances against recurrence .
Oncologist said the side effects can be tough, does anyone have any experience of this?
Thanks xx
Hi Beyoncepower
There are a couple of us on this site that are on kadcyla. I am due to have my fourth round on Friday. I have not had any side effects apart from being a bit tired for a few days after but have been able to go on as normal. I was prescribed this because when I had my lumpectomy a few cancer cells were left and as you said it improves your chances of it not recurring quite a bit.
If you have any questions feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer them .

Hi ral
Thanks for responding. Great to hear your side affects aren't too challenging, how many rounds are you having? I had cancer cells that had survived chemo in my lymph nodes so I think that's why I'm getting it. Very happy to take anything which will reduce the recurrence chances.

I'm having 14 rounds. Same as you I had cells left after my last chemo. Kadcyla is nothing like my last chemo I really suffered with that but this is a breeze.
Hope your treatment goes well. Any more questions please ask.

Thanks ral 14 rounds is a lot more than I was expecting. So glad to hear it’s much kinder to you than previous chemo. Can’t believe I’m pleased about getting more chemo-I’ve come a long way. Funny how the way you feel changes as the treatments progress and the more you learn!
Good luck with the remaining cycles and any further treatment xx
Hi I also had residual cancer cells after my lumpectomies and have just had my first cycle of Kadcyla and letrozole 8 days ago. I have had fatigue and been very emotional but I think a lot of this is due to the disappointment of learning I need to have 12 more cycles of chemo and 5 years of letrozole. However my first lot of chemo which I received before my surgery was horrendous and I was very poorly with it and suffered sever weight loss. So I’m hoping that after I have built my weight back up and the hormones settle down and I have been on these drugs for a couple of months the side effects will subside. Glad to say tho it’s nowhere near as bad as before. I hope your side effects will be minimal. S x
