Hello everyone,
I'm Steph from the Community team, I hope you don't mind me posting here.
We've been asked to create a new thread for chemo discussions this April, as the existing threads were getting a little long.
Please do let us know if you have any other threads you think would be useful to link here.
Oh it’s rough eh? Hope the pains ease a bit and you can rest well. I’m not onto the Docetaxel yet, I hope it’s not too much of a long haul for you.

Hi Crawler,
Sorry to hear that you’re having problems with diarrhoea. I’ve not been too bad but went to the park for a picnic with my daughter the other day and had to make a very quick exit! Luckily was not too far from home. Things are even more difficult with lots of venues closed. Hope your tablets work as it certainly makes life more difficult.
My next chemo (number 4) is on the 29/4/21. Hopefully we all get a few good days in before chemo days are back.

Hi Ruby,
Sorry to hear you’re still shattered. I wasn’t too bad on the EC but found I really picked up once I’d stopped taking the injections.
Very glad to hear you’re not so constipated. That sounds like a bonus!
I would say that on the D with P + T I’ve not been so exhausted but tiredness has been more persistent albeit at a lower level.
The skin on my face became very dry and red a few days ago. It’s not irritating but I’m trying to work out what to do/use to deal with it. Have just bought some Nivea MicellAIR cleanser, will give it a go! The dripping nose is a pain!
Have you got any medication for the queasiness? I was given Metoclopramide but, thankfully, didn’t really have to use them.
Hope you manage to get through the next few days and we’ll all get a bit of respite before the next round.
Bluebell xx
Hi, my hardest days are 4-6 because of bone pain & tiredness & tastebuds.
I had a sinus headache too behind my eyes, I thought it was from lack of nose hairs. I think it lasted about a week. When I ask my BCN they said it could be the change in weather or barometric pressure. They weren’t concerned.
My 5th round is 30th of April. Right now, my thrush is getting better & I’m dealing with my face rash which hurts but not itchy. I’m using Benadryl on it but BCN said I could try hydrocortisone but sparingly, last time it took about a week to heal.
I went walking Saturday on the trails in the woods & did 5k. It felt so nice to be outside and moving. On Sunday, I was so tired & I slept so much. I used to walk 5k every other day before all this happened. I guess I have build up my strength again.

Hi Ista,
Thats great you’ve been able to get out walking. I’ve not quite managed that very well yet. I’ve been working today, albeit from my bed but I have caught up with my students, will see how the rest of the week goes.
I hope your skin gets better with the cream Bluebell. My legs got itchy and sore towards the end of the last round but I think it was the hairs coming out causing irritation. I’m using sea bands and gin gins for the queasiness at the moment, anti sickness meds aggravate the constipation so I’m keen to avoid if possible. I might ask for something to have just in case though as I don’t want it to go on for too long. I’m just hoping I can sleep this last bit off.
Crawler, I hope your stomach eases.

Hi, I’m round two fec. Day 3. Days 1 and 2 were better than last time- less nauseous but didn’t sleep at all last night (steroids I think) and today everything tastes disgusting! Had terrible bone pain last time but have codeine to help this time. Day 7 was good onwards last time. Anyone know what to do for disgusting metallic taste? I can’t eat.
Hi. New here.
Don't really know all the lingo but here goes....
I have Grade 3 Triple Negative Breast Cancer
It has taken less than a month from my routine mammogram to today when I met my oncologist and was given the date of my first chemo (aiming for next Wednesday)
I don't think it's really sunk in properly as I feel fine.
They have signed me off work, from next week, for at least 3 months!!!
Any useful hint or tips to help me get through this would be most appreciated xx
Hi I’m triple negative grade 3 aswell - just waiting to find out the stage - had a lumpectomy and lymph nodes removed and have my follow up appt on Wednesday. I know I’ll have chemo but don’t know anything else yet. Looks like we’ll be going thru this at the same time Xx
I've had no surgery yet.
I'm to have 6 sessions of chemo, then surgery, then radiotherapy..
They did try to explain why some people have a different order but it was too much info xx
They've not mentioned a 'stage' in any appointment. They did say that mine has been caught very early.
Off to have a haircut tomorrow as I don't like the look of the cold caps.....
