Hello everyone,

I'm Steph from the Community team, I hope you don't mind me posting here.

We've been asked to create a new thread for chemo discussions this April, as the existing threads were getting a little long.

  • If you're looking for earlier discussions, you can find them in the Feb/Mar thread here.

  • You can find the chemo aids shopping list thread, created by members of the Community here.

Please do let us know if you have any other threads you think would be useful to link here.

    Hi

Im having chemo first to hopefully try to shrink tumour. Wont know about lymph nodes / spread for definite until then but hopefully chemo will keep it all in check.

Might have to have radiotherapy but will see. Focusing on getting the chemo done for now, seems the best thing to do.

Hope the rest of your treatment is smoother sailing,

    Ruby xx

    Hi Gwennie,

Glad to hear you’re feeling comfortable! Long may it continue. Laxido not quite kicked in here yet but fingers firmly crossed!

  • Hi everyone

feeling ok today think it’s all those steroids that is the last of them today then onto injections tomorrow is that when the bone pain kicks in and dose everyone get it. I had bad ache when I was young and can feel it coming back just along the jaw line spots and bumps under the skin after suffering with it all those years ago it’s surfaced it’s ugly face again hopefully that’s the only place it will be. Lovely day here today sat outside for a wee while getting that all important vitamin D. I have terrible bowls at the best of time but have started on the sachets and bought some constipation tablets. On a much happier note DIL is in labour with grandson number 2 hopefully they don’t send her home and she has him soon.

    Take care everyone

    Anne Xx

  • Hi Anne,

A new grandchild soon. How lovely. Congratulations in advance.

The nurse at my chemo unit said that a third of people don’t get bone pain. It’s been slightly worse for me with both the D and the injections.  I’ve managed it fine with occasional paracetamol during the day and co-codemol most nights before bed.

Hope things aren’t to bad for you.

  • Hi Gwennie,

Glad the Laxido is working and that you feel more comfortable. Must be a relief.

My hard toothbrush just became uncomfortable and my ‘normal’ toothpaste too.

Hope you have less SE this time.

    Hi Anne,

my steroids last a little longer this time, so a half dose for day 4-6 in the hopes it helps get me through those days a little better. I don’t get bone pain with the injections, just jaw / teeth pain and flushed skin.

Definitely trying to enjoy some sunshine and soak up the rays while they last. Great news about your daughter in law! My sister is due at the start of May. She lives in Sweden though so I’m not going to be able to meet the baby for a while.

Take care and hope all manageable once the steroids are done.

Your not far then, I am only a couple of miles from BRI but GP referred me to Airedale at end of October. Think the taste change is the Docetaxel as I am struggling with it as well, oncologist finally confirmed that my BC is her2 neg so no Herceptin.  2 more cycles to do, then radiotherapy and tamoxifen for the next 5 to 10 years .

Counting down the weeks. When do you finish your chem?

  • Hi  not everyone gets bone pain Anne. I had it with the injections, though very mild when on EC. Bit worse with the Docetaxel but still manageable with pain relief and a hot water bottle for my back.
The sunshine was great up here yesterday though grey today, I sat out reading my book with factor 30 on to protect chemo skin. By now you might be a grandma? Grandkids are amazing Heart

I’ve noticed more spots on my skin and tiny red patches too with the Docetaxel and my skin and mouth/lips are definitely more dry so need lip balm frequently.

  • Hi dclem4

thanks for the info will do my first injection tonight getting a bit of pain at my reconstruction site which didn’t have before but paracetamol seems to be helping it. Same here sat out with factor 50 on face although not so nice today. I’ve got 1 grandson who just turned 3 on Wednesday he is the apple of my eye missing not having him as often as I used to no baby they sent her back home after 6hrs her due date is Friday.

    Take care

  • Our granddaughter just turned 4 last week and our grandson is 20months, I used to babysit on Thursdays and not having them had been awful, thank goodness for FaceTime!
Strangely I had quite a lot of twinges and pain at my scar sites too though my op/SNB was November/December last year and is well healed, probably to do with where Docetaxel targets?
Not long for DIL to wait though when it’s so close you just want them here safely Baby tone2
