Hello.two weeks ago I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. I went for an mri last week and they found a second lump. The first is 10 mm the second is 8 mm, so both small. They have also found a lump under my arm. So I’m going back for ultrasound and biopsy. Feel like I’m living on borrowed time!

I think your anxiety has bought you to Macmillan.  If you google signs of breast cancer, you can see pictures of what to look for.   If you have had a weight change over the past weeks stretch marks can sometimes become more noticeable.

I just needed some reassurance, sorry if I have annoyed you in any way it wasn’t my intention. Do you think it looks like dimpling? I’m just at a loss. I hope everything goes well with you Lesley, you and everyone in this thread will be in my prayers

  • Thank you, so from start to end of survey how long did you wait pls xx

I found my lump on 4 August and had my mastectomy on 4 December.

  • That must of tested your mental health lesley  I still cannot feel my lump lesley, I had discharge from my nipple. Went to clinic on 21 4.21 when consultant spoke to me on Tuesday, he said it was small. Hoping my appointment comes through soon now so I can move forward with it. Has your treatment finished. Sorry how big was your lump lesley xxx

My mental health has been severely tested, especially as I live on my own.  I actually had 3 lumps, 44mm, 30mm and 13mm.  My treatment of mastectomy and radiotherapy has finished but I had a seroma (collection of fluid under the skin) which became infected and has now turned into a large, very hard lump.  I need to go to see the surgeon again but it costs me £30 a time in taxis to the hospital and I am loathe to go for them just to give it a poke and say 'lets see how it goes'. Will probably phone them next week if it doesn't seem to be going down.

  • Yh I would advise you go lesley. Lesley did you gave an mri pls xx

Yes, I had an MRI because ultrasound and biopsies showed I had lymph node involvement so there was a chance the cancer had got past my lymph nodes and spread elsewhere.

  • My ultrasound was clear lesley that sounds positive doesn't it xxx

Yes, very positive.  They may take out your sentinel lymph node (the one nearest to your breast) when they do your mastectomy just to make sure it hasn't spread.  This is very normal even when they don't see any signs on ultrasound.  There are no additional side effects when only  the sentinel node is taken because you have lots more to do their job.  I had 14 lymph nodes removed - 4 of which showed signns of cancer.
