Just curious really if your hair was a different colour or texture when it grew back after chemo and how long did it take to grow back? I'm still at the peachy fuzz stage at the moment, 7 weeks post chemo.

Thanks for your reply. Interesting about the hair food wax, I haven't used anything on my hair except baby shampoo, am also taking a vit D supplement. I'm still at the peachy fuzz stage eagerly waiting for coconut lol. If my hair does grows out grey that's OK as can always colour it and who knows, maybe it'll suit, bet your hair looks lovely now x

Hi my hair is growing back after finishing chemo early June - started quite quickly but has slowed down - it is grey but I was dying it previously so am thinking may just grow grey gracefully.

All I used throughout was baby shampoo and still using that and when I was bald, I just used to put the same moisturiser I used on my face (the Simple range) on my head too.

Currently it feels really silky, I was naturally wavy before so do wonder if I may be hit with 'chemo curls'.  Guess that's the same description as the peach/fuzzy stage.

In an odd way, quite exciting to see how it will eventually end up although I am quite liking the very short look I have (I was also short before) but have had a few comments of 'but you will grow it more', 'be more feminine'.

I did have a wig but only wore it once indoors - just used all the lovely chemo headscarves/bandanas you could buy - need to find someone now that I can donate them all including the wig.

    xx

Growing grey gracefully sounds good to me. My hair, the little of it there is, does look to be the same colour it was, pale blonde, but I spose it could be white, I'm cool with that too. Or grey I'm a lot more forgiving of my body now and if I see a new me in the mirror well that's because I'm not the same person I was and never will be, I embrace this change. I totally share your excitement of how the hair growth eventually will be, it's a nice thing to focus on I think and fun trying to guess what colour, texture we'll end up with x

I'm one week post chemo, and it's a mixture of lighter coloured peach fuzz one or two cms long, and longer darker straight hairs about an inch long. It's about the colour it was before, and is starting to grow more evenly over my head but I'm also a bit mohicanish.

Thanks for your reply. Sounds like your hair will be back in no time :) My hair is still too short for me to be able to tell whether it's blonde, like my hair was before chemo, or white. It doesn't even show on a photo. It's an exciting time isn't it this waiting and wondering what our hair will eventually end up like, and then comes that day when we can can go out without a hat and the soul does a little jump of joy, wahoo!

    Onwards & upwards! x

Funny how little things make us smile like hair coming back - has everyone else experienced it coming back everywhere even where perhaps previously you had little hair!!!

I actually stopped wearing all my hats/scarves quite quick after it started to come through - dictated a little by the weather being so hot at that time and it was a little unbearable although putting factor 50 on your head was a little strange.

Decided bald and brave although some people did question was I braving the shave for macmillan ha ha.

    Definitely onwards for us all.

  • Oh yes places where hair had long gone lol. Also at first thought I would need shave chin before haircut !!

Bonus was crooked eyebrow (bald patch scar ) came back straight

One step at a time and ...Breathe !

It's how we are made I think, like flowers receiving a little bit of sunshine after the storm, a soft gentle comforting breeze, and our souls start to rise again & flourish.

Good for you deciding bald and brave, I decided once all my hair went my head was one of those especially lumpy and bumpy heads that really look much better with hair, but around my family I don't bother with head-coverings unless I'm cold. My little boys haven't minded my lumpy egg status at all, they're a great fan of humpty dumpty afterall!

I've not yet experienced any unwanted hair except in that space between my eyes I've noticed some eyebrow growth so I'll have my funny, thick caterpillar eyebrows back soon!

    Onwards & Upwards! x
