Hi just joined today. Got a diagnosis of triple negative inflammatory breast cancer on 4th July. The last two weeks have been a whirlwind of tests. I had an echocardiogram, CT scan, bone scan and MRI. Now I’m waiting for results and am feeling very anxious. I first saw a consultant in January and had a mammogram which was clear. Around end of April early May I felt that something wasn’t right and went back to my GP who referred me again. Finally saw the same consultant on 18th June and had an ultrasound and biopsy that same week. Got the bad news two weeks later. Trying to get my head around it ever since. I don’t even feel sick - feel like I normally do except for some breast pain. I’m starting chemo next week on the 27th July. There’s are long road ahead and I hope it goes well. I am struggling to keep dark thoughts away. It’s frustrating waiting to see exactly what I am dealing with. I’m hoping I will cope better when I have a full diagnosis. Thanks for reading.

  • Hi, I’m so sorry to hear that you, like us, have has a diagnosis. It’s horrible isn’t it? Yes, the road can be a long one. Like you, I started off with chemo, although I had a different diagnosis, and it’s good to hear that you are are starting this fairly quickly. Once they have the results, they will know what they are dealing with in terms of treatments. The waiting is mental cruelty … we all know that only too well … so sending you a hug. But there will be lots of people on here with the same diagnosis as you, and this is a supportive and kind forum. I’m sure you will hear from them soon. Xx

  • Hi LyndaP

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer.

I was diagnosed with grade 3 triple negative breast cancer in September 2020. After having chemo, surgery and radiotherapy I am now cancer free and have been for over a year.

Wishing you the best of luck with your treatment.

    Best wishes

  • Hi LyndaP, I'm really sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer, it is a very scary time waiting to get started with treatment. I was diagnosed in February with triple positive inflammatory breast cancer. I have had chemo and my mastectomy 2 weeks ago and I received my pathology report yesterday and I had a complete pathological response, I still have radiotherapy to get and I will be on Letrozole for 10 years but now I feel I can breathe again. Everyone's treatment plan is different, take each day as it comes and be kind to yourself. I try to be positive every day and I also had a feeling of hope from other ladies on this site. I would advise you if you want to , to join the fb page of inflammatory breast cancer it is run by a lovely lady called Caroline sands, pop her a dm and she will reply to you quickly. The site shows you the international standard of care for ibc and there are lovely ladies on it at all stages of their treatment that can give you advice or a shoulder to cry on. Sending you big hugs. JxxxHeart
