I have been told I have Stage 1 Grade 3 invasive ductal breast cancer but haven’t had my MRI yet. I have been experiencing a burning sensation and pain in my upper stomach below my ribs could this mean it has spread? I’m so confused with staging when I haven’t had an MRI yet? Thanks x
Only your medical team can give you that answer, but it could be heartburn / stomach issues due to stress.
Thanks so much for replying! Yes I am seeing my consultant today so hopefully I will get a clearer picture then. X
Hi Lou Lou c,
I have this and am also concerned regarding spread but it does sound like acid reflux . I am taking lansoperazole which settles the burning but does nothing for the pain . I have had it much worse during chemotherapy ( which can be a side effect) so I’m hoping it will settle when chemo is out of my system. It’s such a worry, every pain makes you imagine the worse.
I think this is common with a lot of people diagnosed with cancer. I fist had it 10 years ago when diagnosed with breast cancer, it eventually cleared up. Three and a half years ago diagnosed with melanoma back it came, and then again 2 years ago when diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma. As has already been said, Lansoperazole is excellent. Best wishes.
Thank you Missi K, I have seen my consultant today and she was very reassuring that this was not a case of the cancer spreading as my tumour is localised and small but I will still feel happier when I have had the MRI and I hope this passes soon! Take care x
Thank you Dandilion, I have seen my consultant today and she was very reassuring that this was not a case of the cancer spreading as my tumour is localised and small but I will still feel happier when I have had the MRI and I hope this passes soon! Can I ask when you had your MRI is it usual to only be the breast area not full body? Take care x
So glad she reassurred you....I feel like it is common for us to panic after being diagnosed.
I myself said to the Dr the other day "Now I feel like I have cancer EVERYWHERE"...every little ache and pain....
She said it is normal to feel that way.
