Has anyone got any suggestions about which bra's are the most comfortable after lumpectomy and radiotherapy?
Hi, was wearing M&S zip front high impact sports bra constantly for 4-5 weeks after my lumpectomy. Am 42 E and the support was much welcome, although straps dug in a bit around shoulder. You don't need a post-surgery bra after a lumpectomy - just a soft, supportive front opening non-wired bra (you won't be able to put on a normal back fastening bra yourself due to restricted arm movement for a few weeks). Make sure that whatever you choose can cope with some swelling - most people recommend going up a cup size, but found the bras I got stretchy enough to get my usual size. Believe ASDA have sports bras with adjustable shoulder straps. Have just done my 2nd day of radiotherapy and wearing the sports bras during the day and sleep bras (also from M&S) at night. Am too hot at night for the sports bras - combination of Letrozole and the "heat" from RT. The sleep bras are cooler and more absorbent.
Hey, i went braless for first few days after Radiotherapy, then front fastener sports bras. Now have to wear them all the time with a padded insert, due to Lymphedema. Manageable with daily physio, but the pain & swelling sometimes spreads down my arm & fingers. Front fasteners are worth a try, hope you find something comfy & supportive.
Ooh thats nice. I've got a silicone prosthesis and would love that. Does it have pockets in it. Xxx
Yes pockets with padding its honestly soo comfortable, now drain has been removed I wear 24/7 xx
I had a therapeutic mammoplasty on Thursday and went into hospital with an MandS post surgery bra. The nurse who was looking after me said I needed one with more support (I am 34D) and recommended macom. It arrived today and it is so much more comfortable around the boob area as far less moves. It was more expensive but after a few hours wear I would say definitely worth it
