Hey guys
So I was diagnosed on 3rd Sept with Stage 2 breast cancer, total shock for me and am dealing with the effects of Chemo
My cancer is HER2+ and last tuesday I started Cylce 1 of 8 of my Targeted therapy Herceptin and Pertuzamab followed by Wednesday having Docetaxel.
It's all curable and treatable which is amazing and at the end of chemo I'll have a full mastectomy and immediate reconstruction followed by 14 more sessions of Herceptin to stop the buggers feeding off me.
I ended up back in A&E Tuesday evening with a 38.2 temp and came away with a "mild infection" and a weeks worth of antibiotics.
To be honest Thurs and Friday I was riding the wave of the steroids but today (Sat) I felt emotional, and have slobbed on the sofa ALL DAY !!
I'm worried about catching anything from outside people esp with winter coming and coughs and colds but no I cant isolate myself indoors every day....
So my question is:-
Who has/is dealing with something similar
What do you do to stay sane and not get cabin fever
I mean this is all so new to me even my PICC line feels like it's annoying my chest... but I was told it wld be the steroids so have been taking gaviscon and see if the discomfort sticks around and if it does go get it checked out again for reassurance
Thanks

Hi
Welcome to the site we know you'd rather not be here but it really is the best place to be for you right now .We all know the roller coaster you find yourself on we been there . Some at the start line yourself others like me further down the path . My story is on my profile if you want to read it . It's helpful if you fill in your profile so we know a little about you .
Im Her 2+ and on Herceptin injections every three weeks now having finished chemo n December . Mastectomy came first for me .
I kept a diary of SE Day one being Day of treatment . A pattern usually emerges which can help you to plan .
For me the first couple of day was tiring but hard to sit still because of steroids lol listen to your body and rest when needed but try to be active each day . Your immune system starts to build up after days 7/10 so most get a near normal week at end of cycle .
With regards keeping busy steroids helped me get the tidiest cupboards and wardrobes ever lol Couldn't concentrate for long but reading / knitting etc.
I went for a walk everyday sometimes only down garden path but gentle circular walks were good exercise .
Have a look for September chemo discussion thread were you'll be able to connect with people at the same stage as you ,the Awake thread is good for a laugh and also lots of advice and support .Avoid google he's out of date .
Visit us again to have a chat ,moan ,cry or rant always someone here to listen .
Take care
