Hi girls. I have been taking Letrozole for almost 2 years now. I have developed a love/hate with this drug. I love how it keeps me safe, but hate the sore joints it gives me.

I have tamed the side effects with cod liver oil and glucosamine.

I recently bought my usual cod liver oil supplements from Holland and Barrett. I trust their quality. This time their best offer was cod liver oil with calcium. I thought I would give it a try..........IT IS MIRACULOUS!! The pain in my joints has stopped altogether!!

They should prescribe on the NHS!!

Hope this helps all you sufferers of side effects.

Love J xx

Has anyone checked with their oncologist about vitamin B supplements? Mine isn't a fan but I don't know if it's the general B family or a specific B hat she doesn't recommend...

  • I did check about vitamin supplements generally with my BC surgeon and BCN, they just said ‘whatever keeps you fit and well’

  • Hi AnnJac,

not sure if it’s coincidence but the feeling of a tight strapping round my feet when first getting to standing after a while has eased a bit....

    I've now had 2 doses.......

That's good!  And coincidence or not glad it's a bit easier.  I've not noticed any difference from tablets.  But I will keep taking them until I can get sublingual ones.

Let's hope your improvements multiply xx

    hello Eagle Soaring,

I am so grateful for the detail you took the time and  trouble to post. I am definitely going to look at stinging nettle and some other suggestions.

It is comforting to know that other ladies are researching.

I have been looking at Harvard , and the States does seem to be ahead of us in cancer treatment.but I have been restricting my diet,....living on black grapes taking Vitamin K, not eating asparagus (due to the asparagine scare,) and it can be very confusing. So it is a great help to know when things have actually worked from the actual experience of friends on this forum.

As for the Letrozole, ongoing problems. I suppose we should accept that some ladies have stronger immune systems which can tolerate the undoubtedly rotten side effects but some of us aren't that lucky, and doctors shouldn't think decent women are just hysterical.  We all know it is down to cost. I have seen a directive from NICE reminding a G.P to prescribe the cheapest version and I am still worried about Activis taking over Accord.

Meanwhile the best we can do is help each other with things that have definitely helped.( I found that  water gel R1 and R2 recommended on this site last year) was wonderful when I got through radiotherapy on it without a single complication) So lets keep posting and thank you again Eagle Soaring.    I am off to get some Stinging nettle!

Have a happy Monday everyone .

    Cheers to us all.
