Hey everyone!
I have my 3rd treatment of EC. Majority of hair thinned out now.

i don’t think I can face another cold cap.. has anyone done the same thing and stopped? Did all hair fall out after?

advice pls. thank you Pray tone1

  • My daughter was in exactly the same place as you 14 months ago. She had come to feel that the cold cap was the worst part of chemo - she felt physically sick at the thought of it. After the third cycle, she had lost probably 80% of her hair and decided she'd had enough. She asked her hairdresser to clip off the remaining hair and developed her own style with a wardrobe of chemo head coverings - she didn't like her wig. Everyone is different, but my daughter felt so much better when she had 'taken control' - and no more cold cap. It's great if it works for you, and I know it does for many, but if you've lost most of your hair anyway ...

Fourteen months on, she's had three surgeries, radiotherapy and is now well into a further year of a different chemo. Her hair is about two inches long, very thick and curly.

Very best of luck with your treatment. xx

  • I cold capped the first EC, but by the time the second infusion came around, had only about 20% of the hair on the top of my head left. I gave up and got it clippered very short. Most of it came out over the next few weeks. If grew back very well. Whilst I obviously wasn’t happy to lose hair, I couldn’t see the sense in being largely bald on top even if I had some how been able to keep the rest. It was a relief to stop.

I decided to cold cap but stopped after 2 rounds. I hated the feel of it and also the time it added to my treatment. I decided to take control and shaved my head, I think my husband was more upset than me. Only you can make that decision to stop and I'm sure whatever you do will be right for you

Good luck with the rest of your treatment.
