Hi, just wondering how everyone is coping in their work life post treatment? I’m so grateful to be the other side, but a combination of the anasterozole and nerve damage from the mastectomy are making my job as a teacher quite challenging at times. I’m lucky to be having regular physio, but it’s not easy. I’m 48 and two years all clear. Some weeks I’m fine and then others I’m exhausted and in pain. Is anyone else feeling the same ?

  • Hi Goodie75

Sorry to hear you’re struggling. I’m retired now so didn’t have the worry of having to go back to work. I’m 8 months post surgery and 6 months post radiotherapy and still suffer a lot of pain. I saw my consultant last week as I didn’t think this was normal. He suggested I’d sprained my chest muscle and to rest and use Voltarol. I tried this but it did nothing for me. I feel I’m still swollen and that’s what’s causing my pain, especially when wearing a bra. I’m trying to stay positive and hope it will resolve itself over time. It sometimes feels like I’m the only one in this position and it gets me down. I don’t have to take any drugs so can’t blame that. I hope this eases up for you. If it’s nerve damage, have you tried pregabalin? It’s worth having a chat with your GP again to see if there’s anything they can give you to help on the bad days. Sending hugs. Xx
