Hi all I’m so scared of having a picc line and starting chemotherapy next week, 8 cycles. Once every 3 weeks. Any advice is most welcome. My babies are keeping me going sorry for sounding so silly….
Hi Storm rain
How did your chemo go? Well done with the cold capping. Hope you kept warm enough. Have you had any side effects yet? I hope not.
I got on well today. My PICC line was fitted very easily and lots of nice chatting made the time go quickly. It was a long wait for XRay to check its position but all ok.
Then another wait to go into the chemo suite. I got a bit emotional when I sat in the chair as it was very busy in there and I had to move around a couple of times. Lovely nurses and a MacMillan nurse came to reassure me. The actual drip only took 45 mins but then PICC line flushing and waiting for the pharmacist took a while.
I’ve got so many meds to take at different times starting on different days so I’ve set alarms on my phone to remind me.
I’ve just popped into bed now as I feel a bit lightheaded and dizzy.
I’ve drunk so much water and had 2 red wees- feel like I’m floating.
well we’ve done session 1 so that’s great.
Sleep well and try not to do too much tomorrow
Sending hugs xx
That sounds lovely- a nice massage.
I’ll ask when she emails me all the info.
Hi kaza1 I got my wig b4 chemo, I was very anxious, lots of tears, cold capping felt fine after the first few minutes, chemo took about 45min extra time for flushing and cold cap, had some lunch. In the evening while I was in bed I felt really hot for a good few min, felt a bit sick took a tablet. Went back to sleep.
I’m so glad picc line and chemo went well as can be, it’s a very emotional time. Try and rest, definitely listen to your body. I pray that it all goes well for you. Iv got my next chemo date 1st feb.
night night/ good morning in case your asleep ️

Steroids made me have night sweats - so don’t be surprised. Ginger biscuits work against nausea.
Glad you’re ok.

Thank you so much that would explain why for 5 min I felt so hot il definitely try that after. Thank you so much xxx
Have they suggested you take your temperature daily? I used to put it in the diary which I kept, showing meds, temp, side effects etc.
xx
Yes they did, thank you so much for reminding me. Il definitely do that. Xxx
Really important- used to do mine morning and evening- nag, nag !!
xx
I haven’t been doing mine so I’ll add it to the daily care list. I’m jotting down meds and how I’m feeling as it’s quite difficult to know what’ effects different things have.
I’ve been feeling quite dizzy and light headed so hope that passes soon.
Hope you had a good sleep and that your morning has started well.
I woke up a few times in the night but just listened to the radio and had some ginger biscuits. I had a headache and sore tummy but not too bad.
My husband helped me put the Limbo cover over my PICC line and I had a shallow bath and washed my hair to get rid of the hospital smell.
We went for a very short walk to get some fresh air but now I’m watching some day time TV which I’ve never done before!
Are you managing with the children and taking time to rest too?
sending hugs
