Hi
Long shot I know, has anyone used a wig or hair covering company in Cornwall that they would recommend. Or any other useful information on the whole process or what to avoid. Thank you x
I don't know of companies in Cornwall but I used Trendco which has an excellent selection at all price points and there may be one nearish to you. If you think you will wear it and it is not a just in case thing, I'd go for a lace front wig as they are comfortable and not itchy. Some are heat resistant so you can style them. Human hair wigs need styling like normal hair and cost a fortune. Go to the wig shop for advice as they will know what suits your face and will run with your ideas to find something you are happy with. You can have your wig trimmed to your tastes too, so the one you put on your head is not necessarily the finished thing. Its a bit like a wedding dress - you will just know when its the one. If you don't go back another time. You will need wig shampoo, conditioner and a wig brush. They should give you a wig stand. I wouldn't buy the wig hair grip bands nor a wig cap to wear under the wig in the shop as you can buy them much more cheaply on amazon and would only purchase them if you need them - you will know after a week or so of wig wearing. You should wash it once a week to keep it fresh. They last about 6 months if you wear it every day. The NHS voucher if you can get one is a good thing but only contributes towards a wig, rather than covers the cost. I figure I won't be needing a hair cut for a long while yet, so saw that extra bit as my hairdressing costs. I hope you find something that you love and makes you feel special.
"browns" more hair now is based in Tavistock Devon. I got my wig in the wig shop at Guy's hospital. The NHS voucher covered the cost. It is one made by browns. Yet to wear it as my hair hasn't yet fallen out. I start by chemo on Tuesday. What advice do your cancer nurses give? All the best
