  1. Quick back story, Was diagnosed in sept 21  (after being misdiagnosed since April 21) mastectomy and SNB (1/3 positive) Nov 21 26mm invasive with a total of 92mm (non ivasive and invasive) was due to start chemo in the Jan 22 but my youngest DD got covid and then so did I, so chemo was deferred until Feb 22. Started chemotherapy last week, having 5FEC-T and then on the 4th cycle I will start Herceptin.
  2. Just really wanted some positive vibes tbh as although yes I know my cancer has a positive outcome at the end of all the treatments (consultant said 98% survival rate for the next 10 years), it is a very scary place to be especially when I have children at home and my partner lives elsewhere, it's harder that I am not allowed to bring anybody with me while I have the chemotherapy due to covid restrictions etc. Anyway, I hope everyone is doing ok. Thank you for reading x

Hi my t is also going to be docetaxol, was due to have 2nd round fec today but I was put on antibiotics yesterday for an ear infection so it has been pushed back a week, it is so frustrating. I will be having radiotherapy once I have finished chemotherapy. x

Hiya, just wanted to report back on the ice cube thing! So I took some small ones I made the weekend before in a thermos. They survived the 45 min drive plus a long wait to go in and infact we’re still frozen when I got home so the thermos definitely worked. I sucked them as soon as we began, one every so often, I was there for around 4.5 hours.
My side effects were slightly different this time around, I had 2 days of feeling ok afterwards which made me wonder if I’d escaped completely but they did kick in a bit later. BUT - whilst I still had a slightly uncomfortable mouth and the horrid taste came back, I didn’t get any ulcers etc!!! So I plan to do it again next time. I’m not saying it’s a definite that it worked but I’m going to do it again and hopefully again I may escape the ulcers. I’d say if anyone has some ice and a thermos it’s definitely worth a go, just to help one of the side effects.

Sadly I’m struggling a bit today, I shaved my head but the bits of hair are coming out today, I’m recovering from this second cycle though and I have over a week until number 3. Which will be half way. So just trying to keep focused on the end.

I hope everyone is well and coping ok. We’ll get through it. X

Oh and also, they gave me a mouthwash to use for the horrible taste/mouth pain but I felt like it wasn’t as good as the corsodol (spelling!) from the supermarket so I’d definitely recommend that too!

  • Yes that must be very frustrating but you wouldnt want that as well as an ear infection. Hope you're not too poorly with it.

  • Yes you're right we will get through this. I can sympathise with the hair loss, I know it will grow back but it's still  distressing.. Although weirdly it felt really nice shaving it. Wink

Yes I thought that too! Ha! It was quite soothing… although now the short hair that’s left is coming out it’s really itchy! But I’m hoping that doesn’t last long.. and then it’s just the countdown to the end of treatment and it being able to start growing back! Thumbsup tone2

  • Hi Shaz52. Glad you're doing ok. I'm on the up after having chemo a week ago. Yes I'm HER2 positive so I  have 1 more cycle of FEC then 3  cycles of Docataxel.. Oh Joy !
