I'm getting fed up of trying to find deodorant which is safe to use, I have excessive sweating always have,, sensitive skin, and none are free from everything, if they are they are too expensive.

I was using mum before op, but I've realised it's got aluminium In it so pore blocking and  I don't want to interrupt my normal body healing.

I've decided to make me own.i know probably won't stop the sweating completely but I just need some thing that stops the smell, I stink so much , getting sore skin around armpit area, which I'm trying to moisturise.

I just want to double check tho.

I've had 2/3 lympnode , me cancer lump and some extra tissue, removed 12 jan this year, 10 days ago.

After googling I've come up with coconut oil and cornstarch is this ok  to put on your armpit? Might add a bit of olive oil with it.

Thanks

  • I used the forever living aloe Vera, was not bad at all x

  • I’m using Wild which has no aluminium in, vegan and refillable.

  • I'm using Faith in Nature aloe vera and camomile flavour. I perspire a lot too but this has calmed down especially on affected side. I did also try Rose one from Dr organics but found the smell too over powering. Holland and Barrett and Amazon have good choice but online shopping means you can't smell them. Hope you find one x

  • I now use a roll on from Holland and Barrett called Faith in Nature and wish I had used it years ago. Using general deodorants used to leave a film on my skin, even after showering and using a puff. Sorry can't help with home made, but hope it works for you.

  • Hi I'm using pitrok spray and I have sensitive skin especially armpits.

  • I've used a few natural ones that I got off Amazon and by far my favorite is the Thai natural deodorant crystal stick and the stick lasts for years.

Straight after my op, I didn't use anything for a few days but then just used Procoal London activated charcoal cream - it acted as a nice moisturiser too though I don't find it is such a good deodorant on its own, which wasn't an issue just being at home.

Sorry, not sure about the answer to your actual question on coconut oil and cornstarch!

  • Hi. Lush do an underarm deodorant called T'Eo which is in a block and goes on like a powder. It contains natural ingredients with a couple of safe synthetics such as magnesium and sodium bicarbs, no aluminium and animal testing free to boot.

My underarm  scar is quite low down, so I went back to this as soon as the scar looked to be healing well. It's easy to re-apply to if needed as it goes on dry.

  • Hi, thanks I'm so confused,I spoke to breast care nurse  she said no alluminmum, alcohol , perfume.

They recommend sanex & simple but they either contain perfume or aluminium, which has totally confused me.

I looked at all the different suggestions on here.

But just seriously unsure of what to do,  - potassium alum, this is safe??  Is natural fragrance but not perfume ok

I seem to be getting really stressed out and finding it difficult.Mayb because I  just feel like overwhelmed with being diagnosed with cancer that finding the right deodorant really hard.

No Matter how many times I wash I stink, like I've never washed for months, my clothes stink too.

I tried my homemade stuff didn't work tho only put a tad bit on to try it but still stunk.

  • I’ve just had a read of some articles regarding deodorant and breast cancer. The reason you are asked not to use an aerosol deodorant containing aluminium is because the spray can give the appearance of micro calcifications. There doesn’t seem to be any definitive research. parabens can act with weak oestrogen-like properties. But it’s a preservative in a lot of things such as foods and cosmetics.

  • Hi thanks everyone, I bought a crystal deoderant.

I still stink tho lol!! But guess I just have to get used to the stench, I've got to go out and buy some more clothes tho  as I've literally caused my clothes to smell of stale BO. Slight smilei got my treatment starting in about a month.
