Kadcyla (TDM1) treatment

Hi, I'm due to have my 2nd Kadcyla next week. First wasn't too bad, mild nausea and tiredness plus a wierd taste in my mouth for a week after but had been in hospital with sepsis 10 days before so the taste could be related to the antibiotics I guess. Just waiting for start date for radiotherapy now too. Hoping everyone else is coping okay.

So sorry to hear you had sepsis - hope you are fully recovered now.  I have had taste issues with every one so far for about a week.  Keep going

Hi all - how are you all doing.  Quick question have most of you had IV via cannula for all the 14 treatments and also have they switched arms i.e used the side that you had surgery on?  I have had an issue past two times with cannula and now finding it very stressful so I have asked for a portacath which they have agreed to, but I only have 6 treatments left....is it worth it?  Not sure if I am over reacting and should just tough it out with the cannulas?  Thoughts please.  Hope all well x

I have a port so get my bloods done via that as well as my infusions. It's the best thing I ever did. Definitely recommend it. Xx

Hi Camino girl, I had an IV cannula for all 14 treatments. I don’t have the best veins so it was a challenge. The nurses never used my surgery arm side, I was offered a portacath but declined. See how it goes it may be a better option for you.
