Hi had beast clinic on Mon. Everything was fine apart from left lower axilla lymph nodes seem to be more prominent and ultrasound said two reactive lymph nodes in left axilla.

I haven't got a clue what that means so not sure if I should be worried or not. My doctor won't talk to me until they have received letter from hospital

    Hi

I think 'reactive' means the lymph nodes are responding to something going on, ie like having some sort of infection etc as that's what they're there to do, protecting the rest of your body.  There could be many different explanations, I suspect.   It seems reasonable, to me (I'm not a professional, tho) that if your breast is clear, that it's not very likely your lymph nodes are doing something more sinister.  However, obviously, I don't know.

I was recalled after mammogram, last November, for biopsies, and the radiologist (Dr) noticed some 'dodgy-looking' lymph nodes so biopsied one of them too.  It turned out to be 'bruised/damaged' during a nasty fall I had last July, when I dislocated my shoulder and had nerve damage.

The reason for telling you this is to help you realise there can be many reasons for things looking 'different' or 'suspicious'

Clearly, they want to identify why your lymph nodes look like they do, hence the biopsies so, once you get the reports from histology, at least you should have a definitive answer.  It's quite possibly 'overkill' but they will want to check it out, possibly as you haven't been aware of any infection recently that could explain it.

Unfortunately, the waiting for results is the worst time ever, and seems such a long time to wait.  Usually, results take around 2 weeks so, I suspect, you will have an appt to go back to see the team for the results.

I doubt anyone can stop you worrying but, hopefully, it will all be 'nothing'.  A lot of people find that activities that can distract you from thinking of all the possibilites. and of the worst, is the most helpful but not always that easy to do, of course

I do hope  you get good results, of course.  Please post back how you are doing and what your results are

    Slight smile

Then, as chocdrop said, they think it is enlarged as a result of fighting an infection and will have gone after 4 weeks.  Obviously, if it is still prominent after 4 weeks, further investigations need to be carried out.

Apologies, I clearly mis-read your post and assumed you'd had biopsy.  As says, probably just lymph glands doing what they're designed to do re infection.

Do go back to GP if you have any concerns, particularly if after the 4 weeks.  Just a thought, might you recently had a Covid vaccination, or an insect bite perhaps???

Wishing you all the best, eh Slight smile
