It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • Hi Violetsniff, (and anyone else, too)

If you ‘google’ look good feel better, hopefully you can find something near you? Apparently you come away with goody bags and really learn how to make yourself look beautiful (long shot in my case, lol!). As I said, I hope to really learn how best to use concealers to reduce those dark spots under my eyes, and make my eyes look better.

  • Coming home from holidays has pluses and minuses, the minus was I seem to have collected a cold, am blaming it on the school parties zooming round the science centre at Herstmonceaux, loads of them, touching everything and spreading coughs and sneezes.

The plus though, is that I picked the first loganberry this morning; it was juicy but still a bit sharp as yet, and I also grovelled for potatoes (we have a couple of pots, one has first earlies, the other, second earlies) and there were plenty for dinner, so tasty, and we had just a few broad beans too, small and sweet.

Just so long as this cold is gone inside a week, with the concert coming up! But I miss the seaside, and the lovely air there.....

  • ...oh dear...keep those horrid germs away!!

...I have looked them up on google, and have made a note of these sessions, which I can reasonably get to when I am on hols.I am afraid I do not have a car and only travel easy journeys on public transport as yet...but that is my way round it.

    thanks  xxx

  • Easy journeys sound just the ticket to get around on public transport ... hope you have another holiday soon and can access a session. Although I drive I do like a good train journey xx

I hope that cold goes before your concert

    xx

  • You must get rid of that cold before the concert, Moomy! The bugbear of all singers! Xx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • Went to search, I have some high dose vitamin c and will start taking them! Grrr, pesky kids!

The cold hasn’t yet attacked anything but throat and face (sinuses) and I hope to keep it from getting to my chest.....as an asthmatic it’s my weak point.

    Ah well, paracetamol etc....

And today is the re-launch of the Bombe machine in the new home of the national museum of computing at Bletchley Park, two, possibly three veterans, it should be good!

  • Morning all.

Sorry moomy about your cold - fingers cross it doesnt get worse. Glad you had a nice holiday, before it arrived. Zinc is supposed to help.  Im off on my holiday on Tuesday which involves flying. Im feeling very anxious that I might pick up a bug on the flight home as it is  5 days before my mx.  One of my work colleagues recommended something to take to protect against bugs on flights (recommended by an anaesthetist friend of hers). Its Vick's First Defense so I'm going to try that.  She takes it as she is prone to chest problems,

Flossie25 - do you have a date in July for your mx?.  Mine is 9 July.  Thinking of you and your decision. Hope you are getting closer. What ever it is, it will be the right one for you.

Sorry not to be on here much but Im feeling quite stressed at the moment as I have too many things to juggle at the moment (none are difficult, but my brain isnt being rational).  But I have finished work now, and very lucky to have a holiday coming up (though at the moment it feels like one more thing to get organised for..))

Love to all, have a good weekend

  • Dear...I feel so sorry for you in your anxiety...understandable.I wonder whether smearing the Vicks it on your nostrils might help?also, take some zinc and vit C yourself to stave any possible infection off....?it is something I had heard about with children with allergies to pollen it seems to help stop inhaling them.(I know pesky germs are teeny but it might help...also blow your nose regularly to clean out any germs)

try and really enjoy your holiday you will benefit from it.xxx

saw some gorgeous GIANT hollyhocks this morning on my early morning shop. But I didnt have my phone!!.....aghhhh! They were a picture xxAhh!been into town again and now have the photo!!..

  • Thanks  - I have got some Vicks nasal spray which im going to try.  Cant do any harm!   Feeling better tonight as have cracked on with a couple of things that were stressing me out.  Im a natural worrier - and plagued by guilt. Just got to learn to relax. How are you doing?? xxx
