It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  •   How lovely, I am going to start some preemie hats for the hospital as well. Have done one lot a little while ago. Have just finished my 'Knitted Knockers' for oncology/chemo unit so am going to start more hats. Niceand easy to pick up and and put down when not feeling too good.

Please post on Arts and Crafts thread when done.

  • Hi Jowoomot,

Thank you so much for that info, I guess it will take a while before this new boob feels anything like ‘normal’ and then of course it’s a new normal! Really hope it does!

I almost had a doze but then the phone went.....doesn’t it always happen?!

Still, it’s been an afternoon lazing on the sofa (and having a giggle at ‘You rang, M’Lord’) so making a chicken curry (cooked chicken) feels peanuts in comparison to housework (which I know I’m not allowed to do, and am not doing!!!)

I can dust though......hubs has learnt how to vacuum but has yet to do upstairs, bless him. I’ve been picking up the bits of fluff/muck I see so it hasn’t got too bad.

  •  the one thing you learn from this poop is how some people really step up.  I have learnt from some of the really selfless the people around me.  Your night sister sounds a real angel. ps love the idea of your group knitting &nattering whilst doing baby hats for new borns. Very topical

     - headache still banished and trying a glass of wine now... I think a lot of people hit a post op low about the point you are at now: I reached it at the weekend. Any energetic exercise, you pay for afterwards. So as  advises, get lots of rest and simple pottering.  Im back at work on Monday, so trying to take this week easy.

  • Hey, Eddiboy, back to work?????

Take it easy, lady, you’ve been through lots!

Flossie, be kind to yourself, it’s early days yet!

Violetsniff, I too love your night sister! What a lovely lady!

One of my friends from choir came round with a pot of lovely bulbs and a pack of grapes, bless her, and is offering me lifts when I need them!

Friends, true ones, really do step up to the mark!
