It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • The storm had left here by 10.00 and it has been another hot, sticky day. Sorry at the moment I can't  offer you a drop in temperature.

Someone asked where I am? An hour north of Bordeaux so the weather often goes from us to you in the UK.

  • That would be fun, though I think a limited market in the UK at least...maybe we could go global? I still have the heart pillow I was given in recovery, and use it all the time. It saw 'Endgame' at the cinema with me, my daughter and her friend, it's has been to Scotland several times, has really helped after my level III clearance, and I use it in bed currently at the end of a pillow to cushion my PICC line which is at the side of my elbow.

Living by the Thames sounds lovely, though the journey sounds a challenge, though I'm spoilt now as when I made the shift from working in a university library to school one so I could have the same holidays as my daughters I was lucky enough to find a school which is 15 minutes by bus away!
