It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • Glad you got the 8 weeks of meds.

i had an issue with pharmacy and talked with pharmacy technician at the surgery, then had to follow up on meds as the agreed plan wasn’t put in place. I now get 8 weeks of meds to alleviate the 2 days of phoning for 4 weekly med delivery. So stressful trying to do that.

i don’t know why pharmacy can’t set up a 6 month plan to get meds to a patient, me! Automatically… oh well all good for the 8 weeks. But like you Moomy I’ll need to ask for extra, which they usually do, in May/june.

my twin is healing, came for dinner yesterday but left when tired. Celebrated mums 91 birthday, she said 19!!! SmileyWink

  • i have had an accident today, feeling tired, driven against the setting sun and also feeling at a low sugar, late afternoon, dip. I've bashed Goldie-van into my front window, like an absolute idiot!
dear daughter was with me, I’d driven to the garage where she’d taken her camper van, and driven her home again. She’s been terrific at comforting me and ordered a new rear light cover (that’s all the damage) and I will phone the company who fitted my windows tomorrow to get them to sort it out for me; it has pushed the pane out of place and we can’t relocate it with all the plastic bits.

I feel such a twit, and am really upset.

  •    aww sending you a hug. I know it is your mode of transport and that it will maybe be costly and an inconvenience but on the other hand, glad that you are not insured and that things can be fixed.  Accidents happen so be kind to yourself. Take care x

  • Just re read my post. The curse of late night typing. It meant to say not injured as it doesn't make sense. Sorry! X

  • Very sorry to hear about your accident  , so upsetting for you. But so easily done with the glare of the sun this time of year. It’s so low, very dazzling. I was relieved though that no injuries, the rest is horribly frustrating but very glad that no one got hurt. Hope it can all be sorted quickly. Sending love and a great big virtual hug, HFxx

  • I did twig,  !

thank you   and  , didn’t get a lot of sleep, and woke early with a headache (unsurprisingly) but have contacted the company who fitted the window who will send an engineer/glazier tomorrow, either very early or between 12 and 4.

Phoned the hospital to try and reschedule my blood test, spent over 15 minutes repeatedly calling back and the number cut me off every 5 minutes. Still waiting for a call back! And that’s now 2 hours since I began to phone.

  • I had an after-lunch nap and feel a bit better though still very annoyed with myself.

out for a short walk, caught a couple of short films of a robin singing and then spotted another one but not too see his red breast very clearly.

  • Hi  , you’re right of course, ‘things’ can be mended. And yes, I kept phoning on and off the whole day and eventually, just after 6pm, I got an answer from someone who was able to change the time and reassure me that even if I couldn’t get there on time, (the window chap might be able to come early) I’d still get booked in! I started phoning at 9.30!!!!
