Walking back to Happiness

Well. Welcome to this thread.

You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.

This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.

It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.

The idea is that you can do any of these or none:

  1. Post when you have walked.
  2. Post how many minutes you walked for.
  3. Post how you felt before, during or after. Or not at all.
  4. Post pictures from your walk, but ones that do not point to where you live.
  5. Post inspirational quotes, thoughts or comments.
  6. A simple like of people’s efforts is fine. No need to write an essay unless you feel the need.
  7. On a safety note. Do tell friends, family or the thread when you leave and return safely. Be aware of your personal safety at all times.

Well here goes.

Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.

Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.

PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.

Me thinks you have had enough health poop in your life without adding the angina. Just read your profile. Did you become a primary teacher? Bet you were amazing as you are always so upbeat and positive.

  • Hi all,

Had a lovely sunny walk today round Shakerley Mere twice, after a delicious pub lunch. It was good to get out again. Have been grounded for 2 weeks with 2 minor ops, which were both great and positive. But a little debilitating.

Mammo on April 3td and colonoscopy April 17, and all being well will be free!!!!

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

Thank you for your kind comments. Yes, after training as a mature student, I was a Primary School teacher for 20 years. I like to think that the things I did well outweighed the mistakes! One boy said to me once, ‘Well, you encourage us, Miss.’

  • ....you have done so well considering tour disabilty, and yes,to hear a young boy say,”Well, you encourage us,Miss”,must have been so rewarding. So sorry you have angina.

well done  and ,nice to see you back.

I just have a quickie really..I only walked into town today, but I saw this....can you see it??

Not a HUGE amount of walking done, but managed to capture some local wildlife (and not so wild life) whilst at my Mum's in Devon...

  • Difficult to believe today's weather, walked around Hunstanton after we'd found our holiday cottage!

    Loving it

Hope the cottage is warm, cosy and a good place to chill

Local school children decorate the trees in the town with eggs

I will try to get a better pic. It was busy with everyone grabbing pics.

  • Wow, how great is that, LeoLady?!

Yes, cottage is lovely, warm and cosy though really big, the smaller cottage is closed for renovation so they allowed us this one at reduced rate, sleeps 6 and is wheelchair friendly so large rooms! Hubs says he feels as if he's walked miles already!
