Well. Welcome to this thread.

You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.

This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.

It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.

The idea is that you can do any of these or none:

  1. Post when you have walked.
  2. Post how many minutes you walked for.
  3. Post how you felt before, during or after. Or not at all.
  4. Post pictures from your walk, but ones that do not point to where you live.
  5. Post inspirational quotes, thoughts or comments.
  6. A simple like of people’s efforts is fine. No need to write an essay unless you feel the need.
  7. On a safety note. Do tell friends, family or the thread when you leave and return safely. Be aware of your personal safety at all times.

Well here goes.

Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.

Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.

PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.

Have you heard of the band chumba-wumba x

  • A slightly panicky walk today between Birmingham Moor Street and Birmingham New Street stations, but I got there in plenty of time! New Street has been sort of rebranded and is huge!

And I'm not only home but the weekends laundry is done and drying outside!

Normal walks will be resumed soon!

    Glad you're home safely,  Moomy.

Birmingham New Street is huge isn't it.  Merges into the shopping centre which is handy if you arrive early,  which I always do!  I graduated from Birmingham Uni a couple of years ago (sponsored by work for a part time MSC in Public Management) and so had a couple of trips down.  But didn't like where you picked up the trains sort of underground and quite depressing.

And well done on washing done and drying xx

  • Yes, I agree, AnnJac, you feel as if you’re descending into the bowels of the earth, and very confusing to find your platform is 2a AND 2b, not just platform 2..... I began to wonder if JK Rowling had a hand in it all! But I gather it’s due to Virgin trains normally being long ones!

  • I remember feeling like that after last summer's meet up. I was escorted by DH and we managed to get on the train to Preston! Got home eventually at 21.30, not happy bunnies xxxxx Should have been Manchester of course! Xxx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • Hello ladies,

I'm trying to keep up with the thread, doing this a little better than I am with the walking...... sad to confess, I have not been (or is it being) out walking for, well, it must be a month now - I really need to but, just not had the motivation, although health and avoiding diabetes should be motivation enough and I've had my head down catching up with work. So today, was the start of a new week and a new 'lets start walking again'.... it went by and I didn't walk, I went out with hubby and mum instead.

I have to agree about New Street station or should we say 'Grand Central' haha - it might look smart when you get in, but downstairs it is so scruffy - I don't think it has changed in all the years.  I have to laugh about the 2a and 2b - if I remember correctly you would think the platforms would be next to each other and I'm sure across from each other arrghhhh and I live here.

Totally loving the photographs and the posts - I am beginning to wonder if I am missing out on how to look at the pages/threads in a quicker way than I do, it takes me forever - I even have to make notes when I'm replying arrghhh.

    Sending love to you all.

I'm hoping this makes sense - only my mind says one thing and my fingers type whatever they like x

    Hi what!

I've just written a long reply and yet again when I've tilted my kindle it's wiped it. It's like writing on one of those iron filing screens. One small shake and its all gone.

We should set ourselves a time or maybe a couple and on that time go for a walk. Then we are walking together.if I'm walking alone I have to have a purpose e.g.  post a letter. But if I was walking with you I'd be more motivated.

We might even get a few more to join in.

    What do you think?

  • Hi all, so hard to keep up and I never seem to get round to posting myself.....but, great photos everyone, loved the ladybird, haven't seen many yet this summer. And some lovely trees. Busy weekend, a lot of steps on Saturday to and from a party but no photos! here's one from walk at end of last week....

Yes I've heard of Chumba Wumba but what a blast from the past! I taught Year 5 many moons ago and the kids used to bring in CDs to play at certain times - and Chumba Wumba was one student's favourite band!

    Such a lovely video .

  • Yes ...I couldnt agree more...Birmingham Station is panicky-making and too huge and depressing...

I did have to go to Wales last year and my frind said “see you on the train”-yes,thanks for that!!anyway a nice station employee showed me where to go.I am like Alice In Wonderland in there!!

soon I shall be going through it again and have allowed lots of time with my connection...I will be looking for a friendly employee to hold my hand and just walk me where I have to be!!

Also hate the new ticket machines...my brain goes all funny and I always get the wrong ticket.Bring back people, thats what I say!!

another photo for you ,just as soon as I can navigate the execution....Xxx

Can you guess where I had lunch with my friend yesterday??...
