My appointment went well - but could have been better!

apparently they have seen at least 6 area in the brain where the cancer is so the aterostaric option is not an option! To get the cancer back under control I will be given whole head radiation. I wl go and get head mask made on Tuesday and starting Thursday will have 5 days of radiation. I am really really anxious. Side effects will likely be fatigue and my shirt term memory will also be affted (it's already not great)

has anyone got any tips/advice for me? Gina I know you have been through this.

Prayers and positivity to you all x

D x

  • Hi dianaA, how did it go yesterday with the treatment?

Just realised I'm a week out, due to Bank Hol. Sorry!

At least it means treatment should b all done n dusted.

Hi, yes done and dusted but am feeling quite rough now - headache and have been feeling sick, thrown up a couple of times - bit sure if I'd feel better to eat but don't really fancy anything and theNauseated faceimes I have eaten its all came back up!!Nauseated face

Any idea how long I can expect to feel like this? ? I have things to do and places to be but just cannot get myself feeling well enough to do anything apart from lie in my bed!!

  • U may feel sick because you're hungry, rather than due to the treatment. Have u tried things like dry toast or ginger biscuits? The latter might help settle your stomach.

The headache could b dehydration of course.

Did they not give u any advice after the whole head radiation? The only person I know who's had it is Gina. I wonder whether it's worth posting in the main Brain tumours group or on" Ask a  Nurse"? Or ringing the helpline on 0808  808 0000

    SorryI can't b of more use ..

Thank you for replying - I've started to feel a bit better thank goodness - I hate feeling sick!

managed to eat strawberries and evaporated milk - a bit weird but was what I fancied and kept it down too!  Also got a burst of energy and took the dog for a longer than usual walk, was very nice. Ready for sleep again now

here's to a better day tomorrow - love and hugs and positive thoughts to you all

  • A little bit of what u fancy does u good - as they used to say.

Trouble with bursts of energy, u sometimes get more knackered later. I keep trying to pace myself coz if I do too much too many days in a row I'm well tired after.

That said, it's good while it lasts, doing things at a " normal" rate throughout the week lol

Hope you're having a better day today?

    Hi Diana

Glad to hear the treatment is all done, though not to hear about the stomach ache and throwing up. This lasted about two weeks after, rather than just the week I was told.

I was told this was because the full brain could cause swelling of the tumours which should settle.

Tiredness like you I just wanted to lie in my bed, I was told it would peak about 4 weeks after than energy would come back.

If you're still being sick anti sickness meds are a life saver.

Hope you continue to feel better. Got to feel ready to sway along to Barry Manilow Grinning
