Hi, I am due to have the Rigid camera to remove a tumor in my bladder. My only symptom has been not being able to fully empty my bladder.

The doc wants me to have a kidney scan before the op in a couple of weeks. Is this just routine or are they looking for something else? I'm worried as usual!!

Thanks x

Hi LollyS, It is usual to have a CT scan on your kidneys and bladder when you are first diagnosed just to check everything is ok in the general area.

It’s all these extra things that start you worrying but they are just being thorough.

    Best wishes Luce x

Hi LollyS, I am in exactly the same situation as you. 46 with two young teenagers absolutely terrified of the worse case scenario.

I don't know what I would have done without the kind and reassuring words of the people on this group. They have helped me no end.

My only symptom was not being able to empty my bladder and I'm trying to think of all this as a positive step. If I hadn't gone to the docs (which I only did as a precaution) and didn't know I would still be in the same situation but with a worse potential outcome.

I have my CT scan on Thursday and a TURBT next Tuesday. Trying to stay positive but it's so hard. The waiting is just awful. Plus now every time I get a twinge anywhere then I put it down to more bad news!!

I wish you all the very best. Please keep us updated.

It's just so stressful not knowing isn't it! I'm petrified having 2 youngsters at home but at the moment they're the only thing keeping me going!

I have my surgery on the 22nd March, kidney scan next week.

I literally went to the docs like you, as a precaution but have been putting symptoms down to a back injury that I've had for years!

Let me know how everything goes. Sending positive vibes.

    Good luck x

  • Hi Lolly and Sara,I also had this symptom. As it’s not listed on the signs of bladder cancer on this site I wonder whether Macmillan would add it ? I feel it is very important. What are your thoughts ? I can suggest it to Macmillan.Love Jane xx

  • Go for it says I. Like covid started without the loss of taste and smell thing, now that's recognised due to experience

  • Thanks Denby,I think it would be a good idea.Just because it’s a rarer symptom doesn’t make it any less important in my opinion.
