Can anyone recommend a lightweight holdall that would be the ideal size for my first TURBT Hospital (over night or otherwise) stay. I have plenty luggage, cases and holdalls, but they are either too big or a bit weighty. I drive our car but my husband isn’t able to drive now and his health isn’t good. I don’t want him to have to carry a bag back and forth on buses that weighs more than the contents of the bag. I’ve looked at Amazon, John Lewis, M&S., and various others online but it’s hard to judge size etc. Not looking for real leather because leather is heavy. Not looking for a girlie colour. That would be Ok., for this old girl but not for the ‘Old’ (not letting him see that description of him) boy.
Hi Mack . For an overnight stay you don't really need to take much and a small light bag should do. I just had a back pack. Toiletries, slippers, maybe a dressing gown (I never needed one), phone etc. A few snacks and drinks. I was in a hospital gown all the time. I am sure others will have some ideas. Best wishes.
Hi Mack, I also take a backpack. I take a lightweight dressing gown but like rily never use it. Definitely something to read, as well as the phone. I usually treat myself to a magazine or the day's newspaper. Toiletries, toothbrush/paste etc. I also took my own hand towel and flannel. Can't remember if I needed it. In my experience most folk do stay in for the night after first TURBT. I had a catheter in over the first night so they could monitor urine/blood etc. Since then I've had at least 4 more TURBTs and gone home same day each time. When are you booked for? Keep us posted on your progress. Love Hx
For TURBT I just had a small bag (like a large handbag) with change of underwear, essential toiletries, spec case and I think I took a book (which I didn't open). The hosp will often provide a plastic bag for your belongings to transfer with you, and if needed, a tray for watch & specs. Unless you really want your phone, not needed as you can use a hosp phone to summon transport. I felt quite unwell and stayed in overnight, but don't recall using my toiletries at all. You could probably use one of those semi fabric bags that supermarkets sell for your groceries.
