I'm in hospital right now having my first chemotherapy. I'm being pumped with water at the moment & have been given a sickness pill. Really kind nurses here. I'm listening to music so I don't have to hear the machine. My wife is next door in a Maggie's centre. She sent me some photos, it looks really nice in there. She really wanted to be with me though. She was physically sick in the hospital car park.

  • I’m sure your wife will be well looked after next door.I’m thinking of you both and hoping your treatment goes smoothly.Love and best wishes Jane x

  • Thank you. She told me that she cried for the first hour.

I'm wondering what I will feel when the chemo drugs are pumped in.

  • Hi . Hope things are going well. Good to know your wife is being looked after. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Thinking of you both. Hope your lovely wife 'fessed up to the Maggie's ladies that she'd been sick. Just so they will gauge the severity of her anxiety. But I expect they will anyway, you would if you work/volunteer there I guess..

  • I doubt she told them much. I'll ask her later.

  • Hi Coojee, glad the chemo is underway. Sooner started, sooner over. I'm sure the chemo nurses will support you and the Maggie team will suss out how your wife is feeling. Bear in mind it's normal to feel panic stricken. What you are both doing is hard. Sending you love. x

  • My wife said one of them took her out for a walk.

  • So pleased she’s at a Maggie’s Centre. They were a great help to me when my husband was diagnosed.

  • It looks a lovely place with very caring people there. They tried to talk to her 3 times, including trying to help her through a panic attack which she had wehern I messaged her that I would be another 2 hours. Any perceived setback sets of a panic attack, fast breathing, crying, vomitting. Yet she refuses any help. This morning, she started screaming & shouting at me because I had the red cancer treatment phone number card on my desk. She scrubbed out the word cancer, then went outside & was sick. This afternoon, she is still very sullen & refusing to talk.

  • Hi Coojee, your wife will be well looked after at Maggie’s it’s a wonderful place. The one I visited helped me a lot when I had panic attacks, crying, severe anxiety. I also had some counselling and therapy and eventually went to see my GP who prescribed antidepressants. It took a while to feel better but I got there in the end. Hopefully the staff can help her, their relaxation sessions are wonderful.

Hope your chemo goes well and things settle down for you both.

    Best wishes
