Due for a rigid cystoscopy yesterday, I was surprised to get a telephone call from urology consultant on Wednesday morning. He wanted to tell me that my ECG at pre-op assessment had shown changes in the action of my heart. They have referred me to a heart consultant for further investigation. Putting it mildly I was stunned. I haven't had any symptoms of heart disease and feel perfectly well, apart from bladder cancer of course The main point of his call was to say I would therefore be having a flexi to avoid having an anaesthetic. But I should still attend the day surgery dept, fast etc in case they needed to do a biopsy in which case we would proceed to a general anaesthetic.
So I rock up on Thursday and am given another ECG which disappointingly showed the same changes as the first. So we process into the theatre for the flexi and 5 minutes in, both me and the consultant can see two new tumours. Enter Team Anaesthesia. Very disappointing given it's only 6 weeks since my last BCG. Doc thinks growths are low grade, superficial. Wants a CT scan of kidneys and mentioned mitimyacin.
Now I await biopsy results, scan date and appointment with a heart consultant. Ah well sun's out today and it's not raining. H x
So sorry to hear your news H. Disappointing that you have a couple more tumours but hopefully they are superficial. I suppose it’s good that they found out about your heart problem as these things can go undetected.
I had Mitomyacin in 2019 and have been clear since so worth a try.
Hope you get an appointment soon.
Best wishes Luce x
Hi and sorry to hear this trying news. My OH had a new tumour at the cystoscopy just 6 weeks after the 6 BCG. As they had gone for rigid anyway he only found out when he woke up it had turned into a TURBT. But Mitomycin has kept him clear since like Lucy-1, so maybe it will for you too. Hope the heart issue can be managed without too much trouble, could be a silver lining finding out.
best wishes, Denby
Oh. H. Double whammy indeed, but as Denby says, could be a blessing in disguise as regards picking up the heart problem early. It must be a downer finding more little devils, but early enough to get rid of them. Thinking of you. Best wishes.
That's a proper b*gger H, but confirms that once the NHS has us in its grasp, it looks after us well. Good luck with the next stage of your treatment.

I may appear to be listening but in my head I'm all at sea.
Sorry to hear that Herothedog, sounds like a bit of a blow.
I'm sure it doesn't make it any easier but as mentioned above perhaps the heart condition would not have been picked up had you not been under the care of the cancer reviews.
Hope you don't have to wait too long for the appointment with the heart consultant/biopsy results.
Wishing you the best
Thanks everyone. At least the extra hospital appointments are an outing Nice to be somewhere other than home. xxx
OMG that’s not too good H just hoping it turns out better on both accounts. Also hope it’s not a long wait for results as we all know the waiting is the worst part of it. Thinking of you x
